Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a innovative and dedicated engineer to act as a senior technical advisor to a Program Office, which is responsible for the acquisition and maintenance of sensemaking applications, global situational awareness applications, and a framework with an integrated data layer.  In this position you will assist the government in acquiring next-generation Multi-INT capabilities by providing programmatic oversight and software systems engineering expertise throughout the development and maintenance lifecycle. You will also lead and organize interfaces between the customer and Aerospace technical staff.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the development of key system requirements and assessing the impacts of proposed engineering changes
  • Evaluate contractor designs to ensure requirements are satisfied, external impacts are understood, and user needs are met
  • Participate in milestone reviews and serves as a principal technical advisor to the government on program readiness
  • Perform oversight on behalf of the program office of verification and validation activities 
  • Support operation transitions, coordinate response to discrepancies, and support other enterprise activities 
  • Coordinate engineering matrix support, develop project plans with products, deliveries dates and level of effort  
  • Define future capabilities and architectural tenets to foster enterprise adoption of global situational awareness and sensemaking capabilities
  • Formulate acquisition strategies to achieve the government’s enterprise vision and mitigate risks
  • Identify risks and watch items as systems progress through the development lifecycle and recommend mitigation strategies that balance cost, schedule, and performance
  • Recommend strategies to migrate systems and functions to government-managed cloud hosting environments 

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, science or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and personal initiative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and function in mixed teams comprised of government, FFRDC, and CAAS/SETA personnel
  • Proficiency with US Government acquisition and systems engineering processes, including supporting readiness reviews and sustainment activities
  • Proficiency with the systems engineering and software development lifecycles and experience in acquiring or developing large software-based systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; experience authoring technical reports and briefing both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must be able to do occasional (less than 25%) domestic travel
  • Must be able to flex work schedule to accommodate deadlines
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with SSBI
  • This position requires the ability to maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
  • Experience working in the GEOINT or SIGINT intelligence discipline from the perspective of acquisition, systems engineering, development, or mission operations
  • Experience with agile-based software development and cloud-based software system infrastructures
  • Knowledge of NRO systems engineering, acquisition, and integration processes
  • Experience directing matrixed personnel to solve technical problems
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environments, complete tasks on short deadlines, and solve ill-defined problems
  • Experience delivering timely, impartial assessments despite incomplete or imperfect information
