Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a key role within the Reporting and Development functions of the Digital and Data Strategy Group, reporting directly into the Head of Digital and Data Strategy and acting as one of the Head's four senior leaders.

The Senior ScrumMaster (SSM) will be the servant/leader for the reporting and development teams. They will coach the teams to do the best work they possibly can and do everything possible to help the teams perform at the highest level. The SSM will drive: 1) an Agile methodology focused on predictable, quality delivery; and (2) continuous improvement of the team.

The SM will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving a flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes within the team.

The ability to communicate with, educate and influence staff at all levels within the Bank up to and including Executive Committee level, will be key to driving results and demonstrating quality delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as SSM for the Reporting and Development teams within the Digital and Data Strategy Group, coaching the teams to do the best work they possibly can. The SSM will do everything possible to help the teams perform at their highest level. They will also integrate Agile and Lean principles into team practices and work products, as well as ensuring the team maintains a focus on quality and continuous delivery.
  • Proactively identify impediments to delivery and resolve appropriately using a deep network of junior and senior contacts, peers and formal channels across the Bank (including escalation if required). Demonstrate excellent judgement (with the ability to balance data with more subjective measures if necessary) to make pragmatic, economic decisions that drive delivery and quality whilst protecting the Bank's franchise
  • Utilize team feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc) to identify areas of opportunity within the teams and work with them to continuously improve, including the way they collaborate and organize themselves.
  • Introduce new and advanced practices to improve the team and their delivery. Leverage the Bank's existing "Agile" tools, such as LeanKit and KaiNexus, driving their adoption and ensuring that their capabilities are fully understood and utilized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required with a Master's degree preferred
  • Strong leadership capabilities demonstrated in an environment of culture transformation
  • 15+ years experience in Project Management roles
  • 5+ years of Advanced Certified ScrumMaster experience
  • 5+ years of Agile/Lean experience (e.g. Six Sigma Black Belt)
  • Attention to detail and meticulous approach to work
  • Ability to handle large voume of inbound work related to growth and/or acquisitions in compressed timeframes
  • Ability to effectively communicate with business lines, senior management, auditors and regulators

DESIRED

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience
  • E-banking/"digital" financial services experience
  • Experience with Oracle, SQL database
  • Knowledgable on Hadoop technologies, working with unstructured data
  • Experience with building out new functions and increasing organization maturity related to data management best practice
