SENIOR SCIENTIST – STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join the Structural Biology Department at our site in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Structural Biology laboratory provides comprehensive molecular insights and structure-based design for drug-target assessment, mechanism of action, protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions, as well as protein engineering to facilitate drug discovery across various therapeutic areas.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for structure determination of target molecules using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
- Work closely with molecular biologists and protein biochemists in the protein expression group.
- Interact directly with both small molecule and large molecule scientists including computational scientists, medicinal chemists, and protein engineers.
- Must be flexible to apply their knowledge to new areas of study, with strong interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a highly collaborative environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate Degree or
- Master’s degree and 4 years of structural biology and general biochemistry experience or
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of structural biology and general biochemistry experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. with a deep understanding of structural biology and general biochemistry
- At least 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in large macromolecular complex structure determination. Knowledge of state-of-the-art protein structural biology techniques including all aspects of construct design, expression, purification, characterization, structure determination and analysis.
- Proven expertise on cryo-EM single particle analysis, to determine atomic resolution structures
- Proven experience in operating high-end electron microscopes (Krios and/or Glacios) and coordinating data collection for multiple projects.
- Excellent presentation skills (written and oral) for effective team-based communication of results.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within timelines and to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Skills in managing multiple projects and capability to prioritize.
- Experience with protein crystallography, other biochemical and/or biophysical assays (SPR, ITC).

- The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $120,669-144,385.
