About the Role:
Omega Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist, Computational Genomics & Data Science, with expertise in functional genomics algorithms and analysis, NGS methods development, and the ability to drive hypothesis-driven research by leveraging multidimensional omics datasets. The successful candidate will be an essential member of a close-knit team of computational and experimental biologists, a key contributor supporting drug development programs, and a lead in efforts to expand our core genomics-based target discovery platform. We are looking for enthusiastic, detail oriented and highly motivated individuals with a passion for bringing novel medicines to patients and who are comfortable working on a fast-paced scientific team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with bench scientists to identify key questions that can be addressed via genomics, partner in experiment design, and execute targeted computational analysis plans
- Utilize advanced approaches for integrative analysis and visualization of multi-dimensional omics data to generate actionable hypotheses for individual therapeutic areas, and to advance the design of novel epigenomic controllers
- Identify, evaluate, and apply new computational methodologies and emerging technologies in an opportunistic manner
- Design innovative data pipelines and oversee HPC data footprint
- Effectively communicate complex biological data to stakeholders at all levels in a manner elucidating key messages to speed decision-making
Required Skills:
- Experience solving large-scale, real-world scientific problems within cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
- Extensive experience with RNA-seq (bulk or single-cell) and functional NGS assays such as ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Cut&Run, WGBS, Hi-C, GRO-seq, etc
- Understanding and experience with CRISPR-based technologies and computational analyses
- Familiarity with modern statistical inference and biological modeling techniques, as well as systems biological and network analysis approaches
- Fluency in R or python, linux HPC environments, and cloud computing
- Prior understanding of epigenomics and gene regulation
- Experience with genetics data, GWAS, eQTLs desirable
- Strong presentation and excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Highly adaptable and responsive to technical and business opportunities - comfortable delivering against challenging project needs and timelines
Qualifications:
- PhD. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related disciplines, with 3+ years of industry experience
- Recognized excellence working in multidisciplinary teams as evidenced from peer-reviewed publications and strong references
