Working with talented associates, you'll help oversee risk assessments across the enterprise to help ensure our businesses are effectively managing risks that might impact the company's ability to successfully operate. You'll also bring your unique perspectives and experiences to help us be more rigorous, curious and creative.

As part of the Assessments and Advisory team, you'll lead a team of specialists to develop, implement and enhance our risk assessment methodologies to create a strong user experience for stakeholders and an even stronger risk profile for Capital One. While the work itself is LOB specific, the team works broadly across the enterprise with business stakeholders and leaders to ensure the appropriate risks, controls and mitigation plans are in place to account for potential operational disruptions.

Successful Senior Risk Managers on this team combine process and project management skills with analytical thinking skills.They are excellent communicators, influencers and strategic thinkers. As liaisons between ORM and first line partners, these leaders are also highly collaborative with superior judgement and problem solving abilities. Whether advising senior executives or supporting day-to-day work, they are strong team players, quick to adapt and always up for a challenge.

A successful candidate will:

  • Evaluate and evolve current state capabilities regarding one or more risk assessment methods using industry best practices and lessons learned
  • Provide advisory services to the first line of defense's risk-taking and risk assessments
  • Effectively work across multiple organizations with varying levels of stakeholders
  • Manage and update policies, standards, procedures and guidelines related to our risk assessments
  • Lead analysis on risk information to gain risk insights
  • Consult on initiatives, business objectives, processes, risk events, controls and/or monitoring
  • Develop tools, templates, presentations to support changes to risk methods
  • Manage projects and lead workstreams that support project and/or team objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Audit or Finance
  • At least 4 years of experience in a combination of Project, Process or Change Management
  • At least 4 years of experience working with internal business customers
  • At least 3 years of experience performing business analysis using either Excel or Tableau
  • At least 1 year of experience creating and maintaining information in Google Suite Products (Slides and Sheets)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Management, Information Technology, Accounting or Economics

  • At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance or Assurance within the financial industry

  • At least 4 years in Client Consulting

  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience leading cross functional programs in Risk
  • At least 5 years of experience performing business analysis using tools like Excel or Tableau
  • Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).
