McDermott SubSea Engineering is seeking a Senior Riser Engineer will work in an interdisciplinary team to design and configure catenary risers and freestanding risers for subsea marine applications. Located in Houston, Texas


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Plan, organize and perform conventional design function of marine risers under general supervision
  • Act as a lead engineer for an independent riser design project or lead engineer for the riser segment of a larger multi-discipline project
  • Perform or check relevant riser analyses and prepare reports, specifications and drawings specific to flexible riser, umbilical and Steel Catenary Risers.
  • Riser analyses include: clearance analysis, dynamic analysis, fatigue analysis and ECA analysis
  • Prepare or check riser design calculation spreadsheets and develop pre/post processor programs
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain riser design standards, practices, processes and tools
  • Provide bid engineering support related to riser design and prepare CTRs
  • Learn and comply with company quality procedures and develop technical specifications
  • Be responsible for scope, schedule and budget, monitor change orders and attend project meetings

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/MS degree in engineering (Structural/Mechanical/Engineering Mechanics)
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in the design and analysis of catenary risers such as flexible riser, umbilical and steel catenary risers
  • Experience in using the riser analysis software such as Orcaflex, Flexcom, Abaqus or equivalent software
  • Must be familiar with riser design codes (API, DNV, ASME, BS)
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to interface with supervisors, colleagues, consultants, vendors, drafting designer and other engineers in multi-discipline projects
  • Able to work independently with general supervision
  • Must have good writing and verbal communication skills
  • Have excellent work ethic and maintain a good work attitude
  • Ability to motivate team members and promote a positive work environment.
