Job Description:

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI), is seeking a Senior RF Communication Engineer for the Electrical Systems Engineering Services III (ESES III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

The ESES III contract is tasked with providing a broad range of engineering and related services to the GSFC Electrical Engineering Directorate for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies in support of NASA’s current and future space flight and ground system projects.

The successful candidate will providesupport to the Wide Field Infrared Space Telescope (WFIRST) and Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE)RF Flight Communication teams, assisting theRFDesign Leads with all aspects of the communications subsystems development for these programs including linkbudget calculations, requirements definition, spectrum management compliance, review and approval of test procedures and test data, system integration and test as well as oversight of hardware vendors andsupport of manufacturing, test readiness, and failure review boards.Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in communications theory or microwave hardware and a minimum of 7 years of experience in the satellite RF communications field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Experience in generating RF link budgets
  • Experience writing and reviewing technical requirements documents
  • Familiarity with satellite communications hardware including transceivers, antennas and amplifiers
  • Experience working with vendors including budget and schedule tracking
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • US Citizenship required. Must be able to pass a Government backgroundinvestigation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Mastersdegree with 10 years of experiencepreferred.
  • Familiarity with CCSDS standards for packet data formats, coding and synchronization, and modulation is a plus.
