The Senior Revenue Accountant at Gogo is responsible for aspects of airline accounting, focusing on revenue assurance, revenue share, revenue payables, maintaining revenue SOX controls, process improvement efforts, as well as assisting with various aspects of the billing/revenue systems specifications for any assigned airlines and tasks. The role will have an emphasis on payment calculations associated with the revenue stream, including documentation of data flows and developing the necessary algorithms required for the calculation of Revenue Share, Royalties, License Fees and Commissions. It will also be expected to assist with understanding and interpreting technical accounting as directly related to duties, implement revenue process improvements, and assist with various aspects of the billing/revenue systems.

Job Description Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of assigned airline contracts, related to revenue recognition, revenue shares, billing, payables, and all otherfinancial aspects to ensure proper accounting, billing and partner liabilities treatment.
  • Experience interpreting complex legal contracts and applying accounting concepts.
  • Work with IT departments to insure proper definition/scope of revenue stream/revenue payable requirements.
  • Active role with the implementation of the new revenue recognition standard (Topic 606).
  • Review of Airline, Studio, Sponsorship, Advertising and E-commerce agreements in order to understand requirements for the payments associated with the various revenue streams
  • Assist with the design and documentation of algorithms for revenue recognition and revenue related payables related to assigned airline(s).
  • Preparation of Reports provided for External Business Partners
  • Maintain Access database, as needed, to support current and future partner revenue shares
  • Assist in the review of new products and gather/document business requirements to ensure proper calculation and handling of revenue related payables
  • Responsible for recording and understanding revenue related to Multiple Element Arrangements, per Accounting Codification Standards Section 605, as required by various airlines and contracts, as well as ASC606.
  • Prepare journal entries and analysis in the month end close process, including reconciling data points along the revenue stream and revenue accruals.
  • Reconcile the revenue sub-ledgers and G/L accounts as well as preparation of monthly revenue reports.
  • Ensure accuracy of billing for equipment and maintenance items, as well as sponsorship, advertising and e-commercecampaigns.
  • Accountable for the payment from/to assigned airlines, liaison with airline and internal account team.
  • Monitor AR for assigned customers for potential collection issues of assigned airlines and other customer.
  • Perform business process improvements including SOX considerations.
  • Perform process documentation as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive change, process improvements, and various deliverables needed to sustain tasks.
  • Work closely with accounts payable in order to ensure that payables are attributed to the applicable accrual/expense accounts and paid timely
  • Assist in the quarterly and year-end audit.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 5 plus years of accounting experience
  • CPA required
  • Experience with billing systems/revenue processes
  • Experience with revenue recognition technical literature and interpretation
  • Experience documenting accounting policies and processes
  • Experience assessing risk and developing mitigating controls
  • Experience with credit card clearing and merchant accounts preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Visio and Word), ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics Navision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills, and managing multiple priorities
  • Must be productive in a high demand, fast paced environment
