Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Resident Engineer licensed in State of Arizona for immediate employment for the Phoenix, AZ office. The successful candidate will perform a variety of engineering duties in the areas of highway or construction and will act as supervisor for lower level staff assigned to the work unit. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist current Construction Department Manager with multiple project and staffing
  • Supervise or inspect highway/roadway construction on an ongoing basis to verify compliance with the contract and in accordance with State, local, and Federal standards 
  • Perform and check the accuracy of complex computations including those performed by other staff
  • Inspect and examine engineering project records, field notes, computations and other documentation to assure that methods of measurement and basis for payment are in accordance with projected requirements, specifications, special provisions, and extra work orders
  • Analyze the contractor schedule to plan out the inspection of projects in their entirety
  • Review construction plans and verify that these are in accordance with designated specifications and other requirements to include calculating of land areas, using geometric and trigonometric computations
  • Prepare completed work estimates to determine the compensation due to the contractor
  • Attend work unit staff meetings, gives and receives information; participates in problem solving and decision making.
  • Supervise and/or inspect all work activities involved in construction projects, including survey, laboratory, and quality control work.
  • Recommend approval of proposed project changes
  • Conduct pre-activity meetings for various construction activities such as asphaltic concrete, PCCP, striping and major structures, box culverts, bridges, traffic control, storm drains, implementation of SWPPP, and other minor incidentals

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years' experience
  • Previous ADOT experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Assist in Project proposals and writing of proposals
  • Must have good computer skills and knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, Word, and Excel to document various construction activities 
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
  • Preferred proficiency in the use of ADOT software Pen, Quantlist CPE

Preferred Qualifications

  • ATSSA traffic control 
  • SWPPP Certifications
  • Local municipality (Counties or Cities) experience
