Role description:Arcadis is looking for a growth-oriented
Senior Renewable Energy Permitting Professional to assist with the expansion of our North American Energy Transition services. This position will support both private and public sector clients, including, renewable energy developers, federal and state governments, and emerging clean energy innovation entrants to the market. Our Energy Transition services are growing nationally, and this position can be based out of any of our U.S. offices. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of project and client teams. Periodic travel will be required (10-25%).
Accountabilities:As a Senior Renewable Energy Permitting Professional, you will work within a team in our North American Resilience business group that serves a broad range of clients and project types across many market sectors. The Resilience business group provides full-service planning, permitting, consulting, engineering, project/program management, and construction services. We combine technical expertise, a passion to serve, and a willingness to be adaptable in every project to serve a variety of clients.
The focus of your work will be to collaborate with our client development, account management, and operations teams to develop relationships, create opportunities to expand our Energy Transition services, and lead permitting, environmental documentation, and critical issues analyses activities as needed for renewable energy projects throughout the U.S. While the primary areas of focus will likely be solar, wind, and storage projects, in this role you are likely to be engaged in permitting activities for other renewable energy technologies (hydrogen, geothermal, biofuel, etc.) and electric transmission projects as well. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and market familiarity with permitting of renewables projects and be able to assist clients with planning services for project development and execution of comprehensive permitting programs. Expertise with state and federal regulations associated with the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act are highly desired.
In this role you will be expected to:
- Leverage existing and establish new, strong, trusted-advisor relationships to help our clients realize their organizational goals through understanding their needs and providing appropriate solutions.
- Lead project teams of engineers, scientists, digital data specialists, and program managers for renewable energy permitting projects.
- Collaborate with existing Arcadis leaders to drive growth and delivery within renewable energy markets.
- Track the regional market trends and landscapes for renewable energy development including policy, regulatory, and technology, and provide updates to internal teams.
- Participate in market-facing events to increase Arcadis' presence and profile.
- Work directly with clients and account teams to recruit and grow key and emerging clients.
- Contribute to the strategy, team development, and financial planning for Energy Transition services.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) as needed to develop proposals, guide project teams, and advise clients in course-of-action regulatory needs.
- Mentor technical staff to develop both client development and technical skills.
- Lead and participate in Communities of Practice and team building, training, and recruiting to identify and expand delivery resources.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Natural Resources, Conservation, Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
- 15 years of experience in consulting, power utility, renewable developer, energy transition, and/or related fields.
- 10 years of experience leading permitting and stakeholder engagement for renewable energy projects.
- Proven business development experience with a track record of successfully developing and maintaining client relationships and identifying and capitalizing on market trends and drivers that provide growth opportunities.
- Proven experience leading the successful delivery of cost-effective, high-quality work products on-time and within budget.
- Experience working with relevant technical tools, datasets, and processes to evaluate critical issues and permitting needs within the renewable energy environment.
- Technical expertise and regulatory knowledge related to local land use permitting, state siting processes, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and related legislation and guidance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active participation in industry-related organizations.
- Relevant professional certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver permitting life cycle needs from conceptual planning to final site design.

The salary range for this position is $116000.00 - $174000.00.
