This position will be responsible for ensuring that radiation safety activities are being performed according to approved policies and procedures and applicable requirements, while providing adequate protection of public health and safety. Interfaces with PSL , Procurement & Materials, Export Controls and operations personnel at all organizational levels, acting as an advisor and to a lesser extent as an auditor and instructor. Must maintain professional knowledge of existing applicable regulations and license requirements, as well as proposed changes in regulations and requirements. Ensure that training and annual retraining as required by licenses(s) is provided, overseeing a personnel monitoring program, ensuring that required radiation surveys and tests are being conducted, maintaining radioactive materials inventory records, ensuring that licensed materials are securely stored or transported and coordinating disposal of waste radioactive material. Provides technical leadership and direction to other less experienced personnel. Position works under minimal supervision.
Candidates must have a Master's Degree in Health Physics or similar discipline/ Ph.D is preferred
Candidates must have up to date licenses and be registered with the state of Texas
Prior oil and gas/energy experience is preferred
Prior supervisory/managerial experiencepreferred
The position is also responsible for overseeing an internal radiation safety audit program and other tasks as designated in the applicable regulations and company license(s) along with some general administrative duties. Provides technical leadership and direction to other less experienced personnel, and may have some general supervisory and administrative duties. Required activities are: report writing, providing technical advice, researching and interpreting standards and codes and developing plans or policies. Requires college degree in related field, preferably health physics, advanced specialized technical training and six to ten (6-10) years technical and practical experience.
