Position: Senior Project Manager ? Legal / Law Firm vertical

This is an opportunity to join a global Law Firm to build their Project Management programs. You will be one of three Sr. Project Managers leading three separate groups. You should provide high level expertise in one of the following business sectors along with exemplary experience in Project Management: Big Four Legal Practices, Banking/Finance, M&A or Capital Markets, Energy Sector, Arbitration, Litigation.
Education & Experience
A strong academic record, preferably of graduate level (JD or MBA preferred).
Prior experienceworking with professional service firms (preferably law firms) or corporate legal departments.
Formal project management qualification (e.g. PMP or equivalent) desirable.
Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma project/process principles a plus
Understanding and exposure to Agile approaches is desirable.
Experience using process mapping/planning techniques.
Demonstrated experience in leading teams.
Be a strong influencer to insure project efficiencies.
LPM Certification is a major plus.
The primary objective of this position is to provide high quality legal project management support throughout a matter?s lifecycle to legal teams and also to assist those teams with client-facing project update communications as appropriate.
This role requires meeting the client?s and legal team?s engagement-specific needs. Candidates must have a track record of helping deliver client services on time and to budget, and the ability to challenge the status quo and streamline efforts of the engagement team.
Expertise should include scoping, planning, budgeting, executing and controlling the work, cost and resources on a matter. Contribute to the discussions of engagement management strategy, goals and related deliverables.
Ability to lead complex projects and implementing change in a global organization, as well as the ability to influence stakeholders ( partners, legal staff and relevant business services personnel ) at all levels.
Demonstrates excellent understanding of law firm economics and financial management (e.g., pricing, budgeting). Displays strong analytical skills. Effective at closely monitoring legal spend relative to budget and proactively intervening to help the legal team deliver results to expectations and on budget.
Communicates effectively and collaboratively at all levels. Diplomatic and skilled at building rapport.
Excellent written communication skills and ability to succinctly capture and convey management information in writing and in presentations.
