Plexus' Boulder Design Center seeks a technically proficient project team leader to manager projects while providing technical guidance to cross-functional engineering teams. Our teams develop complex electronic and electro-mechanical products across the gamut of the Healthcare/Life Sciences, Industrial/Commercial, Networking/Communication and Defense/Security/Aerospace applications. This position is well-suited for a project manager with hands-on engineering and product design experience, or a business-minded engineer with significant development team leadership experience who is looking to take on more responsibility for customer satisfaction and overall project success

Job Overview
You will be utilizing your engineering product development (design) experience, your business-savvy and your team leadership skills to transform our customers' marketable ideas into manufacturable products. Plexus' Project Managers "own the project" and have broad authority and full responsibility for the business and technical success of their projects. This is a high-impact leadership position in a professional technical environment.  Experience a wide variety of products and customers across multiple industries.
Job Responsibilities

  • Develop the vision and direction for each project, taking our customers' ideas and creating new products
  • Establish goals and develop your engineering design teams
  • Be the "Face of Plexus," connecting Plexus to customers
  • Be a leader and decision maker in our organization, driving improvement, new capabilities and growth

This position entails ensuring project and organization success through:

  • Technical leadership and direction of cross-functional project teams
  • Balancing the needs of the customer and the need so of our employees and the business
  • Developing and presenting project proposals and selling Plexus' capabilities to our customers
  • Staffing projects with people that have the right mix of skills and knowledge
  • Developing, managing and communicating project schedules and financial status
  • Facilitating team meetings and communication
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Developing long-term customer relationships that lead to future business
  • Identifying, leading and performing activities to strengthen our organization's performance and capabilities
  • Mentoring and developing others

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution
  • 5 or more years experience in hardware engineering, emphasis on digital and PCBA design
  • 10 or more years of applicable industry experience with 5 or more years in hands-on engineering product design and leadership roles
  • Project Management experience
  • Preferred Education; MBA, MSEE, or MS Engineering Management
  • Preferred Experience; 10 or more years experience in High Performance Computing

Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding the complete concept to manufacturing product development lifecycle
  • Ability to create effective development project schedules and resource estimates
  • Ability to manage teams and tasks to schedule and budget
  • Strong team building, leadership, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Exposure to multiple design/engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, embedded software and PCB
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO 13485, CO-178B, and/or D0-254 preferred
