Position Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager,who will play a vital role in the centralized PMO which leads and drives cross-functional systems development teams using technical, organizational, planning and motivational skills. This is a highly visible position with responsibility for managing and supporting enterprise-wide projects and key projects at the business unit / organizational level for Gerber on a global basis.  The Sr. Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of technology projects to ensure that project goals are accomplished on target by performing the following duties personally or through collaboration across the business.  The position is based in our Tolland CT headquarters.

Responsibilities

Project Scope and Leadership:

  • Drives the situation analysis / preliminary assessment for new projects (or for projects where team becomes involved mid-stream) to help create strategy, plans and project budget
  • Uses Gerber’s Product Development (NPD) Process as a roadmap to direct a cross-functional team that uses a concurrent development philosophy and gate review process to accelerate time-to-market of new products, or alternatively uses other established new product development approaches, such as the Lean Startup Methodology, where appropriate
  • Develops key action plans and detailed project plans
  • Creates project schedule and estimates resources for each project
  • Establishes funding requirements, procedures for completing project on schedule and within budget, allotment of equipment and human resources
  • Develops and maintains technical and project documentation
  • Leads and coordinates gate review meetings.  Coordinates completion of and distribution of phase deliverable packages
  • Prepares regular periodic project status reports and keeps senior management and team informed of project status and related issues
  • Raises key issues and risks, and calls meetings to address out-of-bounds issues
  • Monitors project results against technical and marketing specifications
  • Monitors to ensure initial project scope is not compromised – highlight changes in scope to Executive Sponsors

 

Team Management:

  • Forms cross-functional project teams; assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel
  • Effectively leads and runs project meetings
  • Works with the team to identify and help remove barriers
  • Drives ownership of all deliverables to appropriate team members
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems
  • Conducts necessary training within the team to produce effective teamwork and timely results
  • Reviews individual and team performance and inspires enthusiasm among team members
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure that project progresses on schedule and within budget, that cost targets are met, and that all deliverables are completed
  • Ensures the team is appropriately resourced with the RIGHT resources
  • Drives the implementation of the project in partnership with the project team
  • Enables the team and drives them to make timely and well-informed decisions required for success

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • MBA is a plus
  • PMP certification strongly preferred
  • At least 5 years progressive leadership experience in program management functions
  • Extensive program management experience leading highly technical global projects for new product development, driving results, and gaining trust of management and team members
  • Experience supervising employees within a matrix-based environment across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to effectively present technical information verbally and through written reports to groups at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to travel 10% (domestic and international)
