This position is responsible for project engineering leadership within the MQ-9B UAE Technical Leadership Team. Under limited supervision, this Senior Project Engineer will perform systems engineering and technical management of development projects, including final design, prototype fabrication and flight test of new GA-ASI, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In addition, this Project Engineer may support technical development of competitive proposals for existing and new DoD customers. This position is based in Poway, California.
This position will coordinate with GA-ASI's Engineering and Program Management disciplines, as well as customer organizations to develop and implement capabilities in a fast-paced environment. As a member of this team, the candidate will support various project engineering tasks from acquisition through production aircraft test and qualification efforts. The candidate will lead engineering teams to support acquisition milestones, execute SRRs, PDRs, and CDRs, as well as track and status tasks throughout the life of the program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide technical leadership throughout the MQ-9B UAE program, including NTE, RFP, definitization, and execution of all defense acquisition review milestones.
- Supports operation of engineering systems and documents any problems.
- Leads engineering estimate tasks for proposal activities for all NRE across the program.
- Leads SRR, PDR, CDR and Test and Operation Readiness reviews.
- Devises new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.
- Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
- Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
- May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects.
- Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
- Responsible for the execution and implementation of the engineering process: design, development, integration, test and performance verification.
- Evaluates the integration of the engineering solution within the overall engineering environment; and ensures that appropriate documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are completed.
- Manages program schedule and resource needs for a cross-functional engineering team.
- Must work within laws and regulations of the export restrictions when dealing with international customer.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD.
- Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones, with experience in project leadership.
- Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
- Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) or as a Control Account Manager (CAM) is required.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- Multi-tasking team player with a hands-on approach; customer-focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required, existing clearance is highly desired.
