Job ResponsibilitiesViasat has an immediate opening for a Senior Program Manager to join our team and help us continue to build on our successful 30-year legacy in end-to-end space, tactical, and enterprise network communications systems for our nation’s space, air, and terrestrial platforms.
The position reports directly to the SCS Business Area Director and provides an opportunity to lead a strategic portfolio of new national security technology programs and business development pursuits for this growing line of business. The selected candidate will work directly with our customers and the Viasat team to ensure that we develop and deliver technically innovative solutions that support their emerging requirements while establishing a foundation for future national security technology business growth.
The Senior Program Manager will serve as the primary customer contact and is responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to manage the cost, schedule, and technical performance during all phases of the programs from start-up to close-out. This includes working with the SCS Business Area Director and engineering directors to organize and staff the program for success throughout its lifecycle.

Requirements• 8 + years of extensive experience in a similar role.• Must demonstrate strong leadership behaviors, effective communication skills, and an understanding of technical and financial management.• EVMS experience• bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. • U.S. Government Position. U.S. Citizenship Required. • Up to 10% domestic travel.• Active United States TS or TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.
Preferences• Strong leadership skills in people management, program execution, team-building, customer relationship management, and business development.• A technical background and communications hardware development experience.• A proven track record of developing trusted customer relationships.• Clearly share a vision of success with others; delegate responsibility, but must be accountable; and must be able to influence others by persuasion. • Proven program execution skills and the ability to identify and grow new business opportunities.• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communications, and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences - including external and internal stakeholders.• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences.• Strong knowledge of financial and operational metrics to ensure maximum business impact to drive optimal decision making.• Proven experience maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction based on excellent program performance across a business area or program portfolio.• Advanced degree in engineering and/or business.
