The Senior Program Manager leads the Mortgage, Consumer Lending, and Loan Services Operations project portfolio within Consumer Banking to ensure projects meet organization's goals and standards.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leads, motivates, and mentors project managers and business analysts to improve processes, procedures and standards based on program/projects needs.Also inspires strategic vision to the team utilizing expert knowledge of portfolio management. Develops a high performing team to deliver team objectives.

  • Partners closely with Business leadership and the Technology teams to plan, communicate, and execute strategic initiatives. Also, assesses risk, complexity, scope, and size of proposed projects, ensuring they are planning in an accelerated and affordable manner.

  • Builds and manages relationships with all areas of the bank and the vendors

  • Demonstrates leadership with strong communication, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and customer service skills.

  • Proactively provides accurate and timely reporting against the project plan and budget in line with agreed Program governance.Comfortable discussing project details with all levels of management.

  • Proficient in all project management skills with full understanding of the PDLC and adhere to the project governance required by Program Office. 

  • Creates and fosters a climate of adding value in delivering projects by striving for excellence and contributing to the overall development of Project Management.

  • Ensure projects meet internal and external customer requirements.These expectations apply to projects the Senior Program Manager is managing as well overseeing the projects their staff is managing.

  • Ability to run a project of any size or complexity and be confident in managing their project team. 

  • Holds themselves and their team fully accountable for successful project management including ownership of results, ownership of budgeting and forecasting, escalation and resolution of issues and definition of project deliverables.

  • Ability to resolve challenges and roadblocks encountered during the project lifecycle as well as the aptitude to formulate options for resolution are expected.

  • Assists with annual strategic planning, capital budget planning and road mapping processes, while reducing overhead to get to the end state and improving accuracy.

  • Responsible for identifying new projects and guiding the business through new project prioritization process. 

  • Comfortable working with the technology leads to gather high level estimates for new projects and ability to work with the project teams to refine the estimates provided on projects in flight. Good understanding of financial forecast and budget management.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of Portfolio Management
  • 3+ years of management experience required, experience leading teams of 10+ individuals preferred

  • Strong negotiation and execution skills with ability to drive results, deliver, and take ownership 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work with all levels of individuals and proactively manage and inspire individuals to work together as part of a cohesive team

  • Ability to provide thought leadership, and to craft complex solutions based upon a holistic understanding of the business

  • Hands on experience with Project Management tools, resource management, and financial planning

  • In-depth knowledge and proven application of Project Management methodologies and full project lifecycle including documentation standards, risk, issue, assumption and dependency management and change controls process

  • Self thinker able to work through issues and escalate only when appropriate

  • Identify the impact of project deliverables on the customer and ensure these fully support the customer proposition

  • Maximize the customer experience and minimize risk and cost of change

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/programs/deliverables at the same time and ability to cope with stress in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications to include Microsoft Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Citizens Bank experience
  • Financial Services, Consumer Lending, or Mortgage Industry experience


  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • PMP certification preferred

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week:  40

Work Schedule:  8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday
