A Senior Product Owner (PO) executes and delivers the product vision. In this role, you work collaboratively with the product and development teams to deliver new product features, enhancements, and resolve defects. The PO is responsible for taking high-level product roadmap items and turning them into product solutions, meeting the business needs of our customers in a way that is user-friendly and industry-leading. A Senior Product Owner is a member of the scrum team, acting as the voice of the customer during design and development. Along with the Scrum Master and Technical Owner, the Senior Product Owner is part of the scrum team’s leadership.
Understand the business vision/strategy and translate business needs to product enhancements.
Updates the ROI of new features based upon functionality delivered.
Create high-level epics that describe a business problem and acceptance criteria to solve the problem. Break epics into manageable stories that are prioritized and completed within a sprint cycle.
Gain expert knowledge of technical and subject matter expertise for the product features for the aligned functional areas.
In-depth system knowledge to understand functions/features beyond areas of responsibility for the team.
Develop a deep understanding of human resources and benefits administration industries. Gain expert knowledge of the business problems that we need to solve with software solutions. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Provides day-to-day product guidance/leadership for agile teams. Actively involved in development activities to ensure that development is proceeding as expected.
Provide an understanding of business value and requirements to support the scrum team in estimating the relative size of work (epics - stories).
Serve as the primary interface between the Product Managers and agile teams. Act as the voice of our customers during product design and development. Serve as a liaison between the development team and internal stakeholders.
Serve as the product representative responsible for deploying products to internal teams. Responsible for sharing how to deploy/use products, and serve as a resource to answer product-specific questions/inquiries.
Regularly groom backlog to maintain the prioritization of product enhancements and defects.
Assists Product Manager with validation of current product functionality and gaps.
Maintains the scope of the project to meet milestones.
Define and document Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for new feature development.
Provide stakeholders with relevant deployment updates.
Responsible for ensuring that SLAs for defect resolution is achieved.
May support multiple scrum teams.
Collaborates with Product Owner Lead to document best practices for the Product Owner team.
Mentors and assists in training Product Owners.
Contributes to defining the metrics that measure the success of the PO team.
Engage necessary resources to decide/design/develop tasks for initiatives that require concurrent development by multiple scrum teams.
Manages multi-team initiatives through delivery, providing status and risk during development.
What you need to make the cut:
Bachelor's Degree required (preferably in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field).
Proven ability to plan, set strategy, promote the vision, and execute on a product roadmap, with ROI at the forefront throughout the product development lifecycle.
Experience working in multiple phases of an SDLC methodology.
Experience in the Human Capital Management (HCM) or Human Resources industry and any benefits administration technology experience.
Experience in leading and training others.
Agile experience required.
SAFe experience preferred.
SAFe Certified Product Owner preferred, required within 3 months of employment.
5+ years of Product Manager or Product Owner experience in software implementation projects in a SAAS environment.
Including software product ownership & management.
Requirements gathering and analysis.
The salary range for this position is $101K to $127K, includes a bonus target of 10% annually and a comprehensive benefits package which can be viewed here.
