Learning A-Z seeks an experienced Senior Product Manager, Platforms & Infrastructure to join its Product Management organization. As a core member of the Product Management team, the Senior Product Manager works across the organization with other product managers, architects, UX designers, engineers, testers, and researchers to build the infrastructure, data, reporting, interoperability and integration aspects of the entire product suite.

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for developing a deep understanding of the education market, identifying evolving customer needs, especially technical or data-related ones, and translating them into effective requirements for the shared platform. This highly collaborative role will need to balance understanding the technical details and implications, collaborating with key stakeholders of all levels, and prioritizing development needs in these areas to meet business objectives. To succeed in this role, you will rely on your 5+ year’s prior experience in SaaS product management, love of data, strong project management capabilities, and your ability to think strategically to guide our development teams to build technical solutions that simplify the customer experience and delight the end user.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Complete market sensing activities in order to gain a deeper level of understanding of the K-12 education market, including focus groups, trade shows and events, and traveling with sales
  • Serve as primary subject matter expert and voice of the customer for platforms, licensing, data and reporting, integrations, and infrastructure of the product suite
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize inputs from product analytics, financial data, customers, and internal stakeholders in order to develop product requirements
  • Own product roadmaps and prioritize development based on business and customer impact
  • Translate the market’s problems into actionable, clearly communicated stories for engineering
  • Conduct frequent user testing with lightweight prototype
  • Collaborate with other product managers, sales, marketing, UX, research and evaluation, engineering, customer service, and engineering
  • Work across the department with other product managers to ensure success of all products
  • Answer questions from sales, customers, or other stakeholders with regard to functionality, planned improvements, technical capabilities of the platform, and so forth
  • Train, as needed, other groups in the organization on new releases and enhancements
  • Work extensively with engineering/UX team on use cases and functionality design
  • Work with product support on technical knowledgebase, as required, and provide scripting or messaging for teams as needed
  • Respond to technical questions in RFPs for the Bids & Contracts team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant major required
  • Minimum of 5 years as a product manager for a SaaS product or product line of $50M+ in revenue
  • Experience working directly with engineering and UX to design and build product
  • Experience managing project ambiguity, complexity, and interdependencies in a methodical and structured way
  • Experience working in a K-12 education environment, preferably as a member of a school or district IT team
  • Experience with and/or willingness to learn tools, such as: advanced data tools, product analytics tools, prototyping tools, product management & road mapping tools (e.g. Aha!), and key cross-functional databases (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Good sense of data and how to best translate into effective and meaningful reports for the market
  • Strong user-centered design expertise—ensuring a high bar for product quality and UI/UX
  • Ruthless prioritization skills and discipline to stay on course while balancing the competing priorities of many stakeholders Passionate about product and customer experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail, while keeping the bigger picture in mind
  • Ability to manage competing projects and priorities a must
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Strategic planning experience, specifically as it relates to SaaS product management
  • Strong presentation skills and executive-level communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently and with a variety of teams, both remote as well as co-located
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Instructional Technology or Engineering strongly preferred
  • Prior experience leading technical integrations in a K-12 education environment
  • Prior experience with learning management systems (e.g., Schoology, Canvas Google Classroom), open standards (IMS Global, EdFi), and other interoperability tasks
  • Prior experience building products for K-8 ed tech market a huge plus
  • Large scale technical integration experience a plus
  • Familiarity with SCRUM/Agile Development processes highly desired
  • Experience utilizing Pragmatic Marketing Framework preferred
