The SPM4 is directly accountable to the ADDP for:

  • Delivering a product roadmap for their product area
  • Definition of delivery schedule
  • Developing of measures of success and KPIs for each product and release
  • Go-to-market planning
  • Strategy and outcomes around UX testing and Accessibility
  • Adherence to grant-based deliverables
  • Mitigation of change product requests
  • Timely releases that reflect a high-quality product for our patrons and library staff
  • Definition and adherence to KPIs and measures of success for the product
  • Define digital projects across the Library
  • Develop product requirements and roadmaps
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive analysis to understand the current landscape
  • Work with patrons, librarians, and curators, to understand the needs of all user types across the library
  • Manage and train a small group of new Product Managers
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, lead product managers and engineering teams to build products for library patrons and staff.  Identify and remove roadblocks to keep a project running smoothly
  • Translate broad business and user needs into non-ambiguous requirements and product stories for our development teams
  • Facilitate on-going conversations with stakeholders, keep them informed on product progress, and define new business needs
  • Manage multiple digital products in multiple departments
  • Ensure that the product adheres to specific budget and resourcing

Managerial/ Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of one or more Level 1 Product Managers
  • Determining the strategy, metrics and roadmap for specific products within their domain
  • Developing well articulated proposals, budgets, and plans for their products,
  • Supporting the Associate Director, Digital Product in developing staff skill sets, and product lifecycles

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience as a Product Manager in a technology services/digital media organization
  • Demonstrable leadership
  • Portfolio of launched products either in a technology organization, media organization, or digital commerce organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, business or related field; advanced degreepreferred
  • Some project management experience
  • Demonstrable ability to work on a deadline and be decisive about product scope, goals, user needs and resources, in order to meet product releases
  • Data driven with strong analytical capability, able to define measurements of success and impact of a product
  • Organized, focused, extremely detailed oriented and adept at prioritization
  • Thoughtful problem solver, and a demonstrable ability to negotiate many stakeholder needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple technical and non-technical teams to develop goals and then aggressively pursue them with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and users
  • Mature, empathetic, enthusiastic, and adaptable in large collaborative environments
