As a Senior Product Designer at BetterUp, you will play a key role in shaping our UX framework and UI design approach for our Direct to Consumer experience. Your focus will be on enhancing the experience for members using BetterUp for coaching and professional development.

In this role, you will:
  • Innovate and push design boundaries while consistently advocating for our members.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to understand pain points, validate designs, and iterate quickly.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, ego-free environment that values finding the best outcomes.

You will lead projects from concept to launch, embracing ambiguity and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including generative AI. Your expertise in growth design and re-engagement strategies, along with a curious and investigative mindset, will be essential to your team's success.

What you'll do:
  • Drive the creation of immersive, enlightening experiences to help our members learn about themselves and make progress towards their goals, working collaboratively with behavior scientists, engineers, product managers, and content creators.
  • Lead your own design projects from brief, research, and concept exploration through prototyping, visual design details, motion design, and stewardship through development.
  • Organize and conduct user research and test prototypes to understand people's needs and the resonance of our product-synthesizing the results to inspire empathy and bring clarity to the broader team.
  • Demonstrating a keen ability to explore and apply new technologies like AI to enhance product experiences.
  • Execute the process of planning, navigating trade-offs, and creating meaningful user experiences - inspiring and ensuring that the products we build are designed to create impact.
  • Showcase solid stakeholder management skills, ensuring proactive communication across the organization. Translate diverse feedback into accountable actions that drive forward our mission.
  • Align customer needs with business objectives, maintaining a company-first and team-first approach. Your ability to connect the dots is essential for strategic direction and impactful outcomes.
  • Make smart and decisive decisions and be comfortable and self-driven through ambiguity and uncertainty in an ever changing macroeconomy.
  • Occasionally step into product management roles, strategizing on product direction, understanding user mental models, and extending your influence beyond traditional design responsibilities to exhibit ownership and proactive problem-solving.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
  • You have 5+ years of experience leading and/or operating as an individual contributing designer.
  • Bonus if you're familiar with multi-sided marketplace experiences, growth design or consumer products.

  • Methodical with strong attention to detail
  • Self-directed and biased towards action
  • Constantly improving and open to feedback through collaboration
  • Expert verbal and written communicator with remote teams
  • Strong design portfolio that demonstrates depth of skill in both UX and UI
  • Experience communicating and demonstrating prototypes in various states of polish to coworkers and stakeholders using a variety of tools (Figma, Framer, etc)
  • Experience leading the end-to-end design process and/or agile sprints.
  • You have a track record of getting others to participate in, and contribute to, the design process.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $154,000.00 - $266,000.00.

$177,000.00 - $266,000.00: New York City
$154,000.00 - $231,000.00: Nassau, Newburgh, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, KCVO, ADC is a member of the British royal family. As the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales, he is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne.
