Purpose of Role
The role holder typically either leads a team of procurement professionals and/or operates as a senior contributor/negotiator to ensure the provision of a world class procurement service that delivers competitive advantage to the BT froup globally. The role holder typically acts as a Senior Procurement Specialist or Consultant, leading Procurement on the most significant and complex deals across BT lines of business, managing a smaller or virtual team where appropriate. OR Alternatively the role holder may act as a senior Procurement Specialist or Consultant leading and managing the revenue generation procurement activity (i.e. Bid Support) for bids supported by P&SC people.
What you’ll be doing All role holders to lead or provide input to the future direction of the procurement function To lead procurement plans appropriate to their product and service areas to deliver maximum commercial advantage to BT, including selection and application of the most favorable procurement processes for a particular product and/or service. To negotiate optimal commercial and contractual arrangements with suppliers and for all products and services in their control. To lead complex procurement negotiations in the business and externally with Suppliers. Where applicable, to be accountable for maximizing team performance, delivering stretching targets and keeping within budget parameters. As Senior Procurement Manager/Specialist, additional responsibilities include to lead on the large, complex procurement deals, interfacing with the most senior levels or internal and external clients to develop requirements and ensure best value solution. Drives and delivers optimal commercial solutions by understanding and leveraging the end to end business factors. To develop and co-ordinate a virtual team across Procurement including key members of other LOB's to deliver the procurement and business needs of the deal. May also lead benchmarking activity across a range of relevant category areas, identifying niche supplier capability. To foster and develop supplier and internal stakeholder relationships at senior levels, owning strategic relationships and contact strategy. Develop new relationships in areas of strategic focus where BT has few established links globally. As Revenue Generation Specialist, responsibilities include to lead and manage sections of the Revenue Generation team within procurement that provides 'non-operational' support to bids, external projects and Ventures. To ensure effective engagement with the key stakeholders responsible for securing revenue within the LOB's to ensure their plans and strategies are understood and supported. To ensure effective engagement with Bid Managers and the Legal community thereby obtaining early visibility of the bid pipeline which can be communicated to the appropriate domains. To project manage/co-ordinate multi-category projects into the appropriate bid team to maximize cost and serviceofferings on customer contracts. Work closely with Contract management community and category owners to project manage in-life margin and service improvement programs. Business Impact: Works with a high degree of autonomy. Contributes to the definition of processes, policy and business strategy. Responsible for complex, high value/risk contracts and supplier relationships. Authority/Decision Making As defined within the Procurement Authority levels set out within the BT Group Corporate Procurement Policy
