This Senior Point of Sale (POS) Specialist will join the Global POS Technology Team as a subject matter expert with a focus on systems and technology. This person will work together with Business Partners, Technology Team Leaders and POS vendors as part of an expansive project team focused on implementing a transformational enterprise POS System. The ideal candidate must live and breathe POS, collaboration and cooperation as this role will work closely with other Technology Teams and Business Partners on behalf of our team to build win-win relationships. The internal job title is Senior Software Development Engineer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Retail Systems projects and initiatives and drive them to a successful implementation
  • Provide technical, analytical, functional and business domain expertise on Point of Sale Solutions
  • Troubleshoot problems using Splunk or database queries
  • Manage security reviews and processes as liaison to Security and Compliance Teams
  • Leverage and debug existing tools and scripts utilizing PowerShell, SQL and XML
  • Manage and maintain documentation central to change control process
  • Design, create and deploy data validation and monitoring against Test and Production POS Systems


  • 3+ years in leading, planning and execution of medium to large software implementations
  • 2+ years of SQL and XML experience
  • Splunk and PowerShell scripting experience highly preferred
  • 5+ years of technology implementation work, ideally with Point of Sale Systems for a Tier 1 Retailer
  • 5+ years in a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate results to different audiences and leadership levels
  • Strong knowledge of system and software delivery best practices and methodologies
  • Experience in working with Retail Engineering Teams as well as retail support principles and practices
  • Strong SQL and XML skills are required, Splunk and PowerShell experience a plus
  • Experience with IT Security and Compliance controls, processes and documentation
  • Ability to concisely communicate technical concepts
  • Strong organization, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Passion, understanding and appreciation of retail operations and customer service
  • An open, sharing approach to working with team members, business partners and peers
  • Self-motivated and possess an elevated level of personal accountability
  • Patience, understanding and enjoy ambiguity
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time with an expected 0-5%
