Job Description

The Senior Photonics Engineer will be responsible for design, implementation, and support volume ramp-up of advanced Si photonics devices. The successful candidate will design the state-of-the-art passive and active photonic devices as well as complex integrated photonic systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

*This list is not all inclusive. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.

Assist with design and development of passive integrated optical structures;
Work closely with layout engineers to implement designs;
Work with process team to define parameters that are critical to quality;
Work closely with process engineers to simulate impact of process on device performance;
Define device characterization plans and execute in collaboration with test engineers;
Analyse large data sets to extract device trends and provide feedback for next runs;
Track schedules of various lots through the fab and provide updates to design team;
Develop into design expert on passive photonic structures including couplers, WDM filters, MMIs;
Assist with setting up demos as required by management

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

MS or PhD in Optics or Electrical Engineering;
2 years’ experience in designing photonics devices;
Solid understanding of the fundamentals of optics and design trade offs;
Strong background and understanding of process impact on performance;
Automation and scripting for test;
Experience with process integration and support;
Experience and maturity to work as a self-directed, disciplined, independently directed contributor, handling multiple tasks, taking initiative, and leveraging group resources to meet schedule and performance requirements;
Written and oral communication skills sufficient to enable design team updates and documentation of results with diligence and high level of data integrity;
