Job Overview
This position combines the complete responsibilities and management of payroll and benefits practices. The individual will have an advance understanding of payroll practices, Canadian legislation and comprehensive benefit management. Key responsibilities include processing of multiple pay groups using Ceridian Dayforce HCM, maintenance and management of the Dayforce system & management of all employee benefit programs including Health & Dental and RRSP/DPSP pension plans and providing guidance and support to Stryker employees on all payroll and benefits matters. This individual will serve as a contributing member of the Human Resources team while championing Stryker’s Mission and Values.

Individual Responsibilities:

Functional Responsibilities:
• Responsible & fully accountable for all end to end semi-monthly payroll processing, remittances & audit functions for multiple mid to highly complex pay groups
• Audit and validate HR data for new hires, terminations, transfers and multiple other pay and deduction components
• Responsible for maintaining the overall integrity of HRMS - Stryker’s employee information database; including updating, changing and entering employee information as well as running reports
• Provide guidance and support for complex payroll transactions – Commissions, TD1x & TD1 forms, RRSP lump sum contributions (on bonuses), intercompany employees and pay groups, Stock Options, RSUs, gross up awards, taxable benefits, top-up calculations, terminations & fringe benefits
• Maintain complete, accurate and timely employee records based on real time requests from internal stakeholders
• Respond to and resolve incoming telephone and email inquiries on payroll and group benefits and retirement plans (enrollment, changes, plan knowledge)
• Responsible for maintaining vacation and other work absence records and execute on any policy changes
• Provide payroll and group benefits/retirement plan orientation to all new hires including Dayforce training
• Remit all third-party remittances by due dates including benefit premiums, RRSP/DPSP, WSIB
• Complete all year end balancing, filing and respective summary reporting (T4s, EHT, WSIB, T2200’s)
• Responsible for providing Shared Services with all fringe related account payment information (WSIB, RRSP/DPSP/TFSA, payroll taxes, benefits) and ensuring filed/paid by due dates
• Partner with external parties for all international expat work assignments and ensure monthly and annual payments are accurate and filed by required due date
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with Dayforce to ensure optimization of application and reporting dashboards available

Knowledge & Skill Requirements
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong Excel spreadsheet skills (designing, building and maintaining files)
• Strong knowledge & expertise in statutory legislation pertaining to payroll, WSIB and benefits in all provinces and federally
• Comprehensive understanding of the Stryker Employee Handbook and policies specific to payroll and benefits administration
• Fundamental understanding of accounting
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability and willingness to learn new software applications
• Ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines/turnaround times as well as month-end requirements
• Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and discretion with confidential information

Education & Qualifications
• University Bachelors degree required
• PCP certification preferred
• Minimum of five to seven years of related Payroll and benefits/ HR experience
• Internal applicants with an equivalent combination of education, experience and performance over time at Stryker will be considered
