Summary:

 

Will support Linux/UNIX server OS/hardware, storage devices and Enterprise Active Directory in central data centers in a coordinated effort with Linux Engineering, Windows Engineering, Network Engineering, Storage Engineering, SQL and PMO teams.

 

Duties and Responsibilities for this position include (what this person will do on a daily/weekly basis):

 

Various moves/adds/changes, server software installation and configuration, participation in project activities, performance tuning of the environment, infrastructure and process technical documentation. The candidate must be capable in scaling, building, deploying, troubleshooting, and managing Windows, VMware and Linux Servers.

 

Work scope will include IT and skill development in Exadata and Exalogic server platforms, InfiniBand Switches, ZFS Storage Appliances, Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) and Private Cloud Appliances (PCA) infrastructure and systems configuration, implementation of hardware and OS software, systems connectivity, storage connectivity and configuration, system security, and production process and procedures.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Support IT infrastructure including but not limited to Oracle Exadata, Oracle Exalogic, ODA, PCA and ZFS or EMC storage solutions
  • Perform advanced System / Network Administration activities on RedHat 6.x, AIX, Solaris, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, Oracle Solaris 10, CentOS)
  • Develop system tools and utilities (scripts, etc.) to simplify and support IT and business operations
  • Create Puppet automation to manage configuration and deployment of new applications and patches
  • Plan, implement and manage systems initiatives with IT and customer teams, reviewing proposed designs as applicable to systems (Oracle, Linux, UNIX and Microsoft) and storage solutions
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, including server security policies
  • Support and maintenance (including preventative) of servers and associated network environment technologies
  • Document and continue improvement of processes, procedures, and best practices to align with industry standards and customer needs
  • Responsible for infrastructure implementation, deployment and support of technologies related to server platforms including Linux, Microsoft OS, Oracle, and VMware
  • Perform system performance analysis/tuning, proactive optimization, Capacity Planning, Performance Monitoring, operational redundancy, integration, and operations of all components-hardware, architecture
  • Compliance with organizations operating standards and change control processes
  • Provide server and client support for all issues, such as: logon failures, account lockout, network connectivity, DNS and name resolution, authentication problems, etc.
  • Transfer knowledge and provide leadership support to team members in the implementation of new hardware, operating systems and new software technology
  • Proactively assess exposure areas and takes steps to reduce vulnerabilities.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • One of the following certifications is required:
    o Oracle Linux Administrator (OCA)
    o Oracle Linux Certified Implementation Specialist
    o Managing Oracle on Linux Certified Expert
    o Red Hat Certification RHCSA/RHCE/RHCVA
    o Senior Level Linux Certification (LPIC-3)

 

Preferred:

  • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification

 

Basic Qualifications:

5 years of Oracle Exadata experience

5 years Oracle ZFS

5 years Exalogic Administration

5 years Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)

 

Desired qualifications for this role include:

3 years Linux Administration experience

3 years Puppet and/or Chef experience

3 years Oracle Data Appliance (ODA)

3 years Oracle InfiniBand switch experience

 

Travel:  Travel to client location up to 10% may be required

Degree:  Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
