Role Purpose

The IT Business Relationship Director partners closely with strategically significant business units, leading a team that drives the capture, understanding, and prioritization of discretionary investment. The IT Business Relationship Director partners also provides the primary business interface to IT delivery and enablement functions (BA Support, Portfolio Manager) in order to support effective alignment with business needs and assist in managing change internal to IT.


Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Lead the development of a formal business relationship management function and partner closely with the business to understand, prioritize and describe demand for the various operating units, and serve as the interface in scheduling and sequencing delivery to align with BJC's strategic objectives and enable change across the enterprise portfolio.

Provide vision for and leadership of the development of business analytics capabilities to describe and define functional business requirements in enough detail to effectively communicate business needs and scope to IT stakeholders and assure delivery of solutions that meet business objectives.

Articulate IT interdependencies and potential demand limitations (e.g., resources, funding) that have the potential to impact the proposed solution and/or implementation date to business executives and discuss potential mitigation strategies and alternatives with IT.

Create a recurring, two-way communication program to keep the business entities apprised of IT performance, project status and strategic priorities.

Represent IT within the business stakeholder community to proactively identify opportunities to increase the value delivered by IT Solutions, partner with Enterprise Architecture in driving technology innovation with the business, and support the IT governance/decision process at key decision points to balance strategic needs for change within the context of all demands on IT services.
