Senior Network Architect

We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Architect to join our Network Services team. As a Network Architect, this position will be observing network patterns, defining standards for our key network services, and developing network strategies and roadmaps in support of business strategies, plans and desired outcomes. The role will involve partnering with multiple stakeholders, communicating and gaining buy-in for our multi-year roadmaps and strategies for LAN / Wireless LAN / WAN / IoT and Cloud Connectivity. This position reports to the Director of Global Network Architecture.

The successful candidate will have strong business, organizational and communication skills with a background of developing, presenting, and driving technology strategies and roadmaps, together with delivering large infrastructure projects within a multi-national / global organization.


The focus of this role is to provide thought leadership, direction, and roadmaps for both Hardware and Software Defined Networks, Cloud Networking (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS) Network Function Virtualization, LAN, Wireless LAN and WAN optimization technologies across UTC and our suppliers

  • Scout and evaluate emerging technologies and provide direction on the strategic evolution of the UTC global network in support of business strategy, goals and outcomes
  • Initiate RFI’s, RFPs, and build business cases around new capabilities and technologies
  • Develop reference architectures, standards and patterns for SD-WAN, SD-LAN, NFV, IoT and Cloud technologies and align with key stakeholders.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and gain stakeholder alignment, buy-in and investment
  • Collaborate with other Infrastructure groups on Hybrid/Converged solutions
  • Be the Network domain expert for UTC regardless of vendor and technology
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and experiment / recommend new solutions that deliver business outcomes
  • Work with product/service owners on the development of business cases and product pricing
  • Present reference architectures, roadmaps, and product/service pitches to business units and senior management
  • Be a technical mentor to Network Engineering and Operations teams


  • Passion for network technology and service mindset is must
  • Experience with one or more SDWAN/SDN/Cloud technologies
  • 10+ years of experience in LAN/Wireless Lan /WAN network administration and engineering.
  • Experience developing reference architectures
  • Strong communications and influencing skills
  • Experience working in a multi-national / global organization
  • Proven track record in creating technology roadmaps that align and deliver against strategy
  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud networking
  • Strong business / commercial skills – ability to convey deeply technical ideas to business audience


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • CCIE Preferred
