Description:Mechanical Designer to develop Pro-E sensor layouts, packaging, conceptual and detail structural design of components. and detailed drawings leading to fabrication of complex opto-mechanical system.

Activity focused on the rapid maturation of a specific but flexible EO technology needing significant requirements development, mechanical, electrical and systems design and analysis work, firmware and embedded software/ICD porting/development and new-algorithm design and implementation.

To meet an aggressive program to-first-flight timeline, this effort will leverage existing, high TRL technologies while minimizing overall program risk. The candidate must be self-motivated, perform with limited supervision in a variety of work environments and be proactive in consulting experts and off-program support to independently resolve issues.

Extensive precision Opto-Mechanical design experience in concept design, detail design, and hardware build and test highly desirable. Extensive experience in LOS Alignment Tolerance analysis, Optical Lens and Metallic Mirror mounting, retention, and alignment techniques and implementation required. Candidate must be knowledgeable and proficient in the design of precision servo driven Optical Switching and Focusing Mechanisms.

Candidate must be knowledgeable and proficient in the design and configuration of Multi-axis LOS Pointing Gimbals including Gimbal Balance and mass properties management.

Travel may be required on an as needed basis.

Basic Qualifications:
MUST be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferably engineering focused) OR a minimum of 9 years of professional experience in mechanical design without a Bachelor's Degree.

Must have at least 5 years of professional experience creating system level 3D CAD models and using them to create drawings.

Must have experience using Pro Engineer CREO.

Knowledge of GD&T.

Experience with all aspects of mechanical design, including layout and design documentation.

Good knowledge of all aspects of Mechanical engineering is essential.
Desired Skills:
This position will perform/ direct mechanical design, tolerance analyses, and drawing tasks. Primary tasks will include engineering lead detailed design/drawing support.
