Primary Responsibilities

FTCH has an exciting and challenging full time opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Grand Rapids office. The candidate will utilize technical and managerial skills to develop and lead projects. This position requires working closely with existing clients, pursuing new clients, writing proposals and management of project work from initial concept, through design and construction. This is a great opportunity to work with a highly qualified and motivated staff as FTCH is increasingly recognized as a leader in Engineering and Architecture.

Essential Functions

  • Designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of project types.
  • Participate in client interfacing, proposal writing, concept and technical design. Performing calculations, preparing construction documents and construction observation.
  • Interface routinely with department leaders, senior management, and business development staff to assist with marketing efforts.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Will have normal office working conditions and be required to use a computer. Must be capable oftraveling to and maneuver around project sites for attending client and project meetings, and be able to access project sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation. Must be able to use various technical equipment for communication and documentation. Visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities.

Desired Education

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Desired Job Experience

  • PE license in the State of Michigan.
  • 10+ years' experience in a consulting environment designing HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for a variety of facilities is preferred.
  • Marketing experience to develop new and existing contacts, and provide client contact and project management roles for selected project work.
  • Experience in designing higher education and industry laboratories and health care is desirable.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, team oriented and a self-starter.
