We provide design, development and support of internally designed components, subsystems and systems, as well as production of complex assemblies using external designs.

Triumph Electronics & Control employs approximately 500 personnel. Based in West Hartford, CT, the Company's key products and services include specializing in the design, development, certification, manufacture and repair of fuel pumps, fuel metering units, fuel controls and electronic engine control systems for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft servicing military, commercial, regional and business jet market segments.


We are currently seeking a talented and experienced candidate for our Senior Materials Engineer position within our Mechanical Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, direct and perform investigations relevant to current material and material processing problems on engineering and production hardware. A thorough understanding of typical aerospace structural steels and aluminum alloys (cast and wrought) along with high reliability electronics assemblies is desired. Prepare reports and advise management, engineering and production personnel on appropriate corrective action.

  • Plan, direct and perform failure analysis on engineering, production and service hardware. Prepare reports and advise management, engineering and production personnel on the ramifications of such failures and on appropriate corrective action.

  • Advise and work with engineering staff in the optimization, selection, processing and use of materials in product designs and effectively recommend changes in metallurgical processes for material and product improvement, engineering application and cost reduction.

  • Review and approve engineering drawings and supplier processes with respect to materials and materials processing.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or technical related discipline.
  • 8 years of related experience in a complex, highly engineered, manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace industry.
  • Fluent with MRP systems, specifically materials management functionality.
  • A basic knowledge of military and commercial aerospace specifications and standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of high reliability Electronics manufacturing (soldering and associated processes) a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful candidate regularly interacts with teams on matters concerning several functional areas. Requires the ability to change the thinking of and/or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations, without negatively effecting day-to-day operations.
  • MS Office, Project Management tools experience is a plus, as is knowledge of JDE
