We are looking for a Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Mid/High-Throughput Automation Systems reporting into the Director of Automation BU Marketing to manage the full lifecycle for the Mid/High-Throughput Automation systems. The incumbent will leverage strategic thinking skills, marketing knowledge, and deep customer insights to set the portfolio strategy, build compelling business cases, guide R&D new product development, and develop/execute market strategies in partnership with the sales team to deliver P&L targets.
The Biomek franchise has had a storied past resulting in strong brand equity. Current liquid handler systems are leveraged in the Genomics, Drug Discovery, and Academic markets. With the recent launch of the Biomek i-Series, the business is taking share and setup for a bright future. The incumbent will have an opportunity to accelerate this growth and to propose additional investments that will drive the business to a #1 market share position in the target markets.
•Own all aspects of product management for the Mid/High-Throughput automation portfolio measured by product line revenue and profit growth targets.
•Define/evolve the Mid/High-throughput portfolio strategy by conducting robust situational assessment – identifying market trends, developing deep customer insights, and sourcing competitive intelligence.
•Develop compelling business cases to initiate investment or change in behavior to achieve long-term financial growth objectives.
•Lead, plan, execute qualitative and/or quantitative market research to build robust voice-of-customer to support business cases and guide new product development for pipeline systems.
•Partner with Research and Development to set user needs/design specification and lead commercialization for the Low-Throughput products
•Partner with Commercial / Field Marketing to define, develop, and communicate the value of our products and supporting content to support marketing and sales tactics that drive the business.
•Partner with Market Leaders to develop / execute a marketing strategy for the products to drive the business and support the sales organization.
•Partner with Quality and Operations on quality issues and own the communication to the commercial teams and customers when necessary.
•Conducts an annual product portfolio audit to determine opportunities for reducing part numbers and inventory in the system.
•Lead product solving process and countermeasures for any deviation from key performance indicators across all product aspects of development, operations, quality, sales, and support.
•Analyzes the product line performance, including sales, profitability, volume, inventory, and works cross-functionally to define/drive countermeasure activities on revenue and engineering/operations to address profitability issues.
•Understands and uses the foundation DBS tools, including 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping. Initiates and champions meaningful and sustainable kaizens that assist in achieving the business unit objectives.
Education, Background and Skill Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field; MBA preferred
•5+ years of product management/marketing experience or 10+ years of product/applications development within the lab automation market
•Product lifecycle experience including new product launches and retirements
•Preferred knowledge of Lab Automation or Genomics markets
•Preferred experience in serving clinical and research customer segments.
•Ability to conduct thorough situational assessment including market analysis, trends analysis, customer market research (e.g. voice-of-customer), and competitive intelligence
