This position is also a highly collaborative one. The Senior Specialist will work closely with Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, Associate Director of Marketing and Business Development and Marketing Operations Manager to leverage opportunities for the Washington, DC based lawyers in other geographies, as well as serve as the liaison for firm-wide lawyers in the DC region. The Senior Specialist will have an active role working with both the marketing and business development team and the attorney recruiting team on firm wide initiatives.


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field required; advanced degree a plus
  • 4+ years of progressive professional services business development experience in a fast-paced role required; large law firm experience highly desired
  • Proven excellent oral and written communication/listening skills
  • Basic skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and key marketing applications; InterAction experience preferred


  • Provide strategy and implementation support to marketing efforts for the firm into the market and extend regional relationships across the firm
  • Develop and assist with business development plans for practices and industry teams
  • Identify targets and provide relevant research and strategic ideas to acquire new business
  • Responsible for the orientation and transition of DC lateral partner hires, including the creation of a marketing plan
  • Support marketing and business development efforts of firm-wide industry focuses
  • Liaise and collaborate with other marketing team staff on department and industry projects, events, requests for proposals and presentations, media relations, internal communication and lawyer training
  • Working closely with the DC Office Administrator and marketing team, manage large client entertainment events in the market, including various sporting, arts, and theater events
  • Initiate client CLEs, seminars, sponsorships and other business development opportunities for DC attorneys
  • Assist with the office’s community relations and charitable giving programs: including budget allocations, lawyer board involvement and documentation of DC requests submitted to the firm’s corporate social responsibility committee
  • Assist with attorney recruiting needs for the office, including event assistance for the summer associate program
  • Work with the marketing team to create collateral materials and content for the firm website, brochures and other marketing pieces
  • As needed, procure the services of vendors and consultants to provide marketing-related services and supervise accordingly
  • Other projects as assigned
