PTI has an immediate need for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The candidate will lead the development of new manufacturing processes and manufacturing cells for production and R&D manufacturing programs. In addition, candidate will launch and manage production and R&D manufacturing processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Production Manufacturing Projects: Design and build precision injection molding manufacturing cells, automation, fixture, process development, solve production issues and drive continuous improvement
  • R&D Projects: Support prototype and manufacturing process development and builds
  • Design: Design for manufacturing and assembly, product design, fixture design, manufacturing process design, automation design
  • Analysis: FEA/ FMEA, Moldflow, SPC, manufacturing process optimization, requirement analysis, research new materials, technology processes
  • Project Management: Technical management of outside vendors, contractors and consultants.
  • Assesses the manufacturability of customer designs in relation to plastic, metal and ceramic injection molded processes
  • Utilize problem solving tools including Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing, and DOE to solve development challenges, eliminate process variability, and resolve issues that impact part cost, quality and delivery
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers in mechanical design, manufacturing process, tooling and automation
  • Work closely with QC, QA on inspection of manufactured parts

Qualifications:

  • 10 years experience as Project, Process, Product or Manufacturing Engineer
  • Proven record of delivering component/ assembly level projects using a structured development process
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing, injection molding, tool/mold design, automation and secondary operations
  • Machine and fixture design for low and high volume manufacturing
  • Familiar with machine shop operations: turning, milling, EDM, CNC machining operations and understand the capabilities of each
  • Familiar with statistical concepts such as FMEA, Gage R&R, Capability Studies, SPC and DOE
  • Fluent in CAD design using Solidworks or ProE
  • Experience in aerospace and/ or defense manufacturing
  • Experience in Metal Injection Molding (MIM), Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM), debinding and sintering a big plus
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus
