The Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) Customer Support - System Service Engineering Team is seeking a
Senior Manager to lead the Mechanical Systems & Integration Team in
Seal Beach, CA. This team consists of the Landing Gear/Brakes, Payloads/Interiors/Water Waste, Environmental Controls Systems and Hydro-Mechanical Systems, and Systems Integration. The team supports in-service issues for all in production and out of production Boeing Commercial Aircraft models while developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners. You will be an integral part of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes team in the Customer Support Organization. As a Senior Manager you will be applying your engineering experience to oversee engineering issues and provide oversight/accountability for other Boeing engineering organizations.
The Senior Manager Systems Service Engineer will acquire resources for department activities and lead process improvements. You will develop and administrate the budgets, schedules and performance standards, oversee approval of technical approaches, products and processes; and manage, develop and motivate employees. The position will require some travel to integrate with program leaders, customers, suppliers and other organizations.
The Senior Manager Systems Service Engineer position is fast paced and requires that an individual: has excellent communication and relationship-building skills, be able to think strategically, is comfortable interacting with diverse cultures, and can work on variable shifts. It also requires quick reactions, resilience, and adaptability.
Primary Responsibilities:- Manages employees and first-level managers performing activities within multiple Engineering disciplines
- Lead the team through complex technical challenges; products and processes; budget development and administration, schedules and performance standards, and developing and motivating employees
- Regularly interact with other Customer Support organizations including Field Service, Maintenance Engineering, Fleet Chief Office, as well as Design Engineering, U.S. and International Commercial Customers / Suppliers, and Regulatory Agencies
- Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
- Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanentBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or science related discipline
- 2+ years' experience as a Manager leading engineering teams
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Ability to quickly adapt to customer needs; support off hour meetings/calls
- Ability to work and function in a 24x7 by 365 operational environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):- Experience in a customer service role
- Experience acting as a technical interface with suppliers and airline operators
- Master's degree or higher
- Experience working cross functionally and across business units
