Job Description

Thousands of companies around the world depend on Rocket Software to solve their most challenging business problems by helping them run their critical infrastructure, business processes, and data, as well as extending the value of these assets to take advantage of cloud and mobile computing, advanced analytics, and other future innovations.  Founded in 1990, Rocket Software is headquartered in Waltham, MA, with approximately two dozen offices around the world.

The Senior Manager, Strategy will be a research analyst with deep experience in enterprise software who will synthesize market trends, Rocket’s corporate strategy, Rocket’s technological strengths, and fundamental competitive research into fact-based, actionable strategic growth initiatives, acquisition opportunities, and partnership opportunities.   The person will map, track, and size end markets and determine gaps in Rocket’s highly-technical product portfolio.  The person will develop and keep current a knowledge base of strategic insights, as well as address executives’ inbound inquiries with the right balance of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills required to equip them actionable strategic options.  The person should be skilled in story-telling and presentation development to illustrate findings in a compelling manner. In addition, the person will liaise closely with colleagues in Rocket’s Research & Development group to evaluate specific new acquisition and partnership opportunities for technical and strategic merit.  Lastly, this person will support the post-closing strategic review process to help Rocket evaluate how acquisitions are performing against their strategic plans, technical roadmaps, and financial targets.

A unique role that straddles technology, corporate strategy, and investment research, this individual contributor will have the opportunity to grow into a strategic thought leader and help to support the long-term direction of inorganic growth at Rocket.  Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Development, this position is a ground-floor opportunity to help build the infrastructure required to sustain Rocket’s long track record of inorganic growth, which spans over 45 acquisitions since 2000.
