Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Site Operations, Data Center will be responsible for data center operations and customer service delivery, ensuring the proper operation of the critical infrastructure equipment supporting the data center, provisioning of customer services, and ongoing customer relationship management. The Senior Manager will have direct supervision of one to two (1-2) managers and/or direct and indirect supervision of ten to twenty (10-20) operations technicians. S/he has the primary responsibility to ensure that the facility's power, cooling, and various other subsystems are operating at peak performance, are maintained according to Iron Mountain Data Center and Manufacturer's schedules and recommendations, meet Customer SLA's in terms of redundancy and uptime, and that these activities are managed in accordance with all regulatory and compliance frameworks. This position is in a 7x24 environment with on call and call in requirements and responding outside of normal business hours will be required

The Senior Manager, Site Operations, Data Center is responsible for the daily activities of the Critical Facilities, Service Delivery and Shipping & Receiving teams to include oversight of all activity on the dock and data center floor. This role is responsible for internal and external project design. This position will have special responsibilities around customer lifecycle: infrastructure cabling, cross-connects, fiber network, customer installations and build outs, Smart Hands support, customer project management, and decommissioning. This position will manage MMR carriers to ensure that IMDC maintains 100% uptime.

This position is also responsible for developing the annual budget in support of these activities and ensuring budget adherence. This position has financial responsibilities with regards to Op Ex and Cap Ex procurement and monthly spend forecasting. The Senior Manager, Site Operations, Data Center will administer the various Building Management Systems (BMS's) that monitor and control the systems that support the Data Centers, as well as facilitating immediate response to critical facility incidents. This position is highly technical and requires extensive experience in secure and sophisticated building controls, medium voltage switchgear, and critical power delivery components.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Able to quickly asses the problem and either make the repair or manage the repair by engaging one of our vendors.

  • Attend ongoing training to meet minimum job requirements, and as new equipment or process are developed.

  • Operate, maintain and repair equipment such as CRAHs, AHUs, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, Plumbing, and Insulation.

  • Operate, maintain and repair equipment such as UPS's, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switch's, Switchgear.

  • Supervise external vendors to ensure the regulations and operational procedures are followed.

  • Able to operate Power Meters, Computer Based Control/Alarm systems, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, CCTV and Card Access systems.

  • Should possess a good understanding of the following test devices: Multi-meter, IR Meter, Data Cable Tester, Power Analyzer.

  • Review and update complex mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Oversee maintenance contracts and provide retain equipment maintenance, history and documentation.

  • Ensure Data Center facility complies with public utility, environmental, Federal, State, City and County, and other agencies as required. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and fire/life/safety requirements.

  • Respond as an escalation point to the after-hours on-call rotation. This will include managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s) to completion.

  • Ensure that the inventory system is managed and up to date for current and in-pipeline projects.

  • Responsible for managing the implementation of processes, procedures, training, and qualifications to ensure that all maintenance, environmental/building/code compliance, and product and service delivery requirements of the Data Center systems needs are met

  • Gathering estimates and actual costs for factors relating to the everyday maintenance of the facility, as well as the provisioning and de-provisioning of customer environments. This includes, but is not limited to, materials, labor, and outside contractors.

  • Oversee and provide for modification, installation, and projects specific to customer provisioning and de-provisioning as it relates to the space, power, and infrastructure.

Order supplies and Customer Install equipment as necessary, maintain accurate inventory levels

Shows good judgment and instincts in decision making. Ability to take initiative to ensure tasks are completed. Refrain from disclosing confidential customer names to nonaffiliated personnel. Effective agent of change.

Problem Solving: The candidate must be able to analyze and solve problems quickly on both the operations side as well as within sales in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Customer Service: Customer relationships and quality of service delivery are key to the success of the business.

Collaboration: Comfortable in a matrix management environnent. Active participant in the Data Center management team calls/meetings. Able to work with little to no supervision.

Interpersonal Skills: Candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of entities at all levels and across all functions of the organization. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally, typed and written. Includes reading, comprehending, and following documentation written in English.
