PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop implement and track business strategic plan and department objectives.
  • Coach and train QA personnel, whilst guiding them through employee relation and performance improvement matters.
  • Develops metrics to analyze products efficiencies and drive continuous improvements.
  • Prepares and submits reports to management to inform them of project status and to make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead quality improvement projects to reduce customer complaints (CFRs) and manufacturing non-conformances (NCMRs).
  • Lead Corrective Action Prevention Action (CAPA) and Risk Management systems.
  • Manage non-conformance system for equipment including the review and approval of root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA).
  • Collaborate with Operations department to support Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure cross-functional company goals are met.
  • Manage incoming inspection, in-process testing and final test: ensure that department has the proper equipment, tools, capabilities and resources required to perform testing.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures and work instructions for product assembly are up to date.
  • Manage in-process audit program.
  • Ensure best practices are established and shared on a global basis
  • Occasional travel to suppliers, customers, and professional development seminars (<10%).

Qualifications

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelors of science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering or Chemistry from an accredited university, required.
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant managerial experience in a process improvement role in the chemical manufacturing field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Specialty chemical / batch manufacturing experience preferred
  • Prior supervision experience required.
  • Expertise in analytical skills with solid engineering fundamentals is a must.
  • Proficiency in ISO Quality Management Systems
  • Proficiency in statistical test methods and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a plus.
  • ASQ Certified and Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Proven ability to self-teach, work independently and draw meaningful results/conclusions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to lead others and collaborate in team environment.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, for professional reports and presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
