Job Summary

As the Senior Manager, Product Development you are the person accountable for the technical performance of an Agile team and the technical excellence of the applications.Depending on business need, you may work with one team or across a suite. Your primary role is to provide leadership, technical guidance and remove roadblocks. You are a role model for the team and will need to demonstrate servant leadership to influence Scrum. If you are successful, the team will appreciate the challenges you give them and reach high levels of performance and innovation. In addition to technical leadership, you are responsible for talent development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the reliability, availability, and scalability of applications
  • Remove blocks that the team is not able to resolve themselves
  • Inspire the team and facilitate innovation
  • Foster an environment in which application developers have a high level of engagement, challenge, and commitment to quality and customer service
  • Ensure the team understands how their product links to Paycor’s strategy
  • Provide advice and input to the team on technical difficulties that come up
  • Give input on how to make features/functionality better
  • Stay abreast of development tools, technologies and techniques the team is using
  • Be current on industry news, developments and emerging technologies
  • Anticipate tools, skills and other future needs
  • Plan and manage budgets and financials
  • Be the liaison between the team and senior leadership, communicating
    organizational updates
  • Complete performance evaluations and provide feedback to the team members
  • Plan training and career development with team members
  • Recruit, interview, and hire new team members
  • Support the team with resource management by working with other managers to ensure teams have the right resources at the righttime


  • year degree in information systems or computer science
  • 8 or more years direct experience in full life cycle software development
  • 3 or more years leading multiple software development teams in a fast paced
    application development environment
  • Experience in a SaaS environment
  • Proven experience leading in an Agile environment
  • Proven ability to influence change
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within software development
  • Ability to communicate ideas to technical and non-technical individuals
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience in financial service or similar industry experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of system and software best practices and methodologies
  • Significant experience with C#, SQL, ASP.Net, PowerBuilder, HTML 5.0, CSS, JavaScript Frameworks
  • Significant expertise in middleware pattern such as: REST, Class Libraries as a Layer, WCF and/or SOAP Web Services
  • Significant expertise in data storage technology such as: Microsoft Entity Framework accessing the data, Relational Databases (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.), NoSQL Technologies (Hadoop, Mongo, etc.)
  • Fluent in programming languages used to develop Windows and internet applications utilizing Microsoft technologies
  • Good project management skills or substantial exposure to project-based work
    structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
  • Knowledge of database design and file management techniques
  • Able to research application development issues and projects
