Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is positioned to bring about transformational change in teacher preparation on a national scale. Relay's Talent team serves to further this mission by serving as an integral pillar of support, enabling the rapid growth of the organization through the recruitment, development and retention of high-performing, mission-aligned team members. Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition, the Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition plays a key role in attracting and identifying a diverse pool of talent and independently leading a rigorous selection process in order to hire highly qualified and passionate individuals. The Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition will also lead key components of the team's DEI efforts, thereby strengthening their own facilitation and project management skillsets and contributing to Relay's overall vision of becoming the most diverse, equitable, and inclusive graduate school of education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead both instructional and non-instructional recruitment searches across assigned campuses ensuring hiring managers and candidates have a positive experience
  • Lead the full selection process, finding ways to increase individual efficiency and effectiveness at each stage: application review, candidate tracking and communication, phone interviews, final interview scheduling
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers, delivering on promises and providing excellent customer service
  • Execute on Relay's national outreach and cultivation strategy in order to identify a diverse pool of qualified talent for future openings
  • Research and establish new source partnerships in order to increase referrals and Relay's talent brand across a diverse array of talent markets
  • Maintain accurate candidate data within Relay's Applicant Tracking System, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Regularly collect and analyze recruitment data to independently and collaboratively make strategic decisions
  • Participate in strategic conversations around recruitment efforts and Talent-wide initiatives

Team Leadership

  • Independently oversee and improve a subset of team systems and operations to further streamline talent acquisition across the institution
  • Strategically delegate portions of the selection process to the team's Coordinator to increase the diversity of talent pools and the speed of hire and possibly manage a temp in the spring and summer
  • Serve on Relay's Diversity Steering Committee and independently lead the Recruitment & Retention Subcommittee to increase Relay's efforts to recruit and retain a diverse staff and faculty body that reflects the diverse perspectives of our graduate students and their P-12 students.
  • Lead Talent Acquisition diversity data collection and analysis and plan and facilitate team strategy meetings
  • Facilitate interview bias virtual trainings for hiring managers and interviewers across the institution in order to proactively combat implicit bias
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition must share the team's sense of urgency about the need to improve student achievement through phenomenal teacher training. Additionally, candidates for the position must have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of work experience; experience in education is required
  • At least 2 years of experience in talent acquisition, leading searches independently
  • Experience leading DEI efforts and/or facilitating DEI trainings at a team or organization-wide level preferred
  • Experience building and/or managing talent systems and operations preferred
  • A focus on continual improvement and innovation
  • Strong attention to detail as well as proven organizational and project execution skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all levels across an organization and externally
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An interest in data analysis and research
  • A high level of urgency, grit, teamwork, respect, and personal responsibility
  • Ability to work efficiently, intensely, and within an entrepreneurial environment
  • A demonstrated passion for urban education and closing the opportunity gap
  • Authorized to work in the United States
