Inovalon is seeking a Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable (A/R) to be responsible for the overall productivity and efficiency of our Accounts Receivable, Billing and Cash Application processes, directly managing three direct reports and reporting to the Corporate Controller. The incumbent in this role will be responsible for the overall management of the team including interviewing, training, personnel management, employee development, motivation and overall advancement of the teams. This role will implement processes to effectively gauge all associated management metrics and manage all automated and manual billing processes and the personnel directly responsible for such efforts including facilitation of our billing system, processing of accounts, monitoring of open invoices and aging, creation of invoices and tracking of various client billings, contracts and related issues.


  • Oversee the invoicing, accounts receivable and cash collection for all of Inovalon's clients;
  • Directly responsible for managing the day to day activities of a multi-member team including driving the monthly close process, driving process improvements, providing exceptional customer service and monitoring daily/weekly, monthly, quarterly metric goals;
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the billing team as well as providing process, structural and organizational recommendations to support billing processes for all client contracts;
  • Document centralized A/R workflows and processes to ensure timely and accurate invoicing and compliance across a range of products;
  • Work closely with Inovalon’s operations groups to develop business requirements documents to build and implement billing/collections solutions, aligning upstream and downstream processes related to new arrangements;
  • Communicate with Senior Management regarding all aspects of assigned projects; identify and report operational billing and A/R issues;
  • Efficiently resolve client/customer invoice related issues; review and update correspondence to customers on an ongoing and consistent basis;
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations to support the financial close process;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal control policies and support a centralized internal control structure for Inovalon and its subsidiaries;
  • Provide support for quarterly audit reviews and annual audits;
  • Coordinate efforts with the financial planning team to ensure validity of billing data and to support monthly review processes, in compliance with Inovalon policy;
  • Drive productivity; manage staffing including hiring, training and overseeing the work of the billing/accounts receivable/collections staff and make recommendations for changes to continually improve service and efficiency;
  • Assist with acquisition integration of the billing function;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.


  • 5+ years of relevant experience managing a highly productive billing team that involves complex contracts;
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel;
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills, organizational savvy, strong initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated proficiency of written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated proficiency of presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, and motivate and empower a highly productive team; and
  • Well organized with ability to multi-task and shift priorities;
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in accounting or related field;
