As the Manager/Senior Manager of Medical Affairs Operations, you will be an integral part of the medical affairs team with involvement or leadership roles in many functional areas including field medical, medical information, investigator-initiated studies, and medical communications. Your primary responsibility will be medical communications management including leading the medical communication team weekly meetings and working with the Senior Editor/Medical Writer to assure timely submission of all publications and congress abstracts. In addition, you will work with the Head of Medical Affairs to oversee the collaborative research/investigator research program, interfacing with thought leaders and the field-based medical team. Open, effective, and proactive communication is critical for this role, as is a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving results forward. The successful candidate will have the ability to learn all aspects of medical affairs and interface cross functionally and with external thought leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively participate in and lead weekly medical communication team meetings including setting agenda, managing project updates, and preparing monthly publication reports.
• Timely and accurate routing of medical communications materials for review including documentation and submission of articles, abstracts, and posters.
• Work with the head of medical affairs to support the collaborative research program including preparing meeting agendas, interfacing with field medical and thought leaders, and participating in activities related to execution of research.
• Assist the field medical team in the preparation of field medical insight reports, metrics, training development, and literature reporting.
• Oversee contracting and processing of SOWs and agreements.
• Work with the head of medical affairs on budgeting and department reporting.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to represent medical affairs.
• Support congress planning and activities around external scientific presentations.
• Liaison for medical review submissions and tracking.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS/BA degree required in science/health-related field. Experience in medical communications is strongly preferred but not required.
• 8+ years pharmaceutical/biotech experience is preferred with medical affairs experience a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Experience supporting teams and projects within a dynamic environment.
• Able to make appropriate strategic decisions to operationalize and move the medical communications projects forward.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Experience operating effectively in a healthcare/pharmaceutical start-up setting.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and resources, meet deadlines, and be flexible to changing priorities.
