Contributes to the overall success of the  Canadian Insurance Marketing Department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Senior Manager, Marketing,  Canadian Insurance is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a consistent brand across all the  Canadian Insurance businesses and developing marketing initiatives and materials which align to the overall  Canadian Insurance brand, supporting revenue and business line objectives and priorities.

This role is as a relationship manager to Canadian insurance business and communications and underwriting partner teams, providing expertise to the development, implementation and oversight of product and sales marketing materials and programs, including overarching platforms for providing tools, templates and approvals, ensuring activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations and industry and bank act rules, and internal policies and procedures.


Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Develop, implement and manage a consistent insurance brand for the Canadian Insurance businesses. Continuous oversight and support of the ScotiaLife Financial brand, with implementation and standardization of best practices for product support across all business lines.

Contribute to the development of the overall Canadian insurance annual marketing and campaign plans that support the businesses and deliver against their growth objectives while driving brand adoption with proper systems, processes and creative assets. Serves as the brand ambassador, coaching teams on the proper use of the brand guidelines.

Assist in the development and recommendation of annual marketing budgets supporting Canadian Insurance businesses.

Development and implementation of the day-to-day marketing needs of the Canadian Insurance businesses.

Development and oversight of standardization of product material templates, working with various partners to gain adoption and implementation across all businesses.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • University degreerequired, Business or Marketing undergrad.
  • 8-10 years work experience in Insurance and/or Marketing.
  • Strong strategic thinking, change management and idea creation skills.
  • Strong customer centric marketing / selling skills including strategic planning / segmentation, customer competitive positioning / rankings, new product/service / price innovations, and strategic partner/acquisition business development.
  • Developing team leadership and people management / development skills.
  • Attention to detail, organization and integrity/ethics.
  • Excellent written and oral communications to both individuals and teams.
  • Fluent in English, French an asset.
