Senior Manager, Legal Project Manager

Capital One is seeking a project manager/legal specialist to fill a unique role supporting the Legal Department’s Corporate Regulatory Team.  The team works on numerous issues, supporting all lines of business and staff groups.  In addition to providing legal advice, responsibilities for this team include filing regulatory applications, drafting regulatory notices, compiling regulatory reports, responding to document requests, serving as a repository for regulatory information, and working on special enterprise projects.  As a result, this candidate should have a multitude of skills and should enjoy a mixture of routine and new work challenges.  The candidate should have project management experience, as well as a keen interest in developing substantive expertise on various bank-related subjects (e.g., regulatory applications, branching, regulatory reporting, legal research).  This candidate should have the ability to work in teams or independently, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Associate General Counselresponsible for corporate regulatory matters.


• Provides project management support for the Legal Department’s Corporate Regulatory Advisory Team, including managing production of regulatory applications

• Compiles and submits periodic regulatory reports and develop and maintain related desktop procedures regarding reporting

• Collaborates with Business Risk Office regarding Legal obligations

• Champions project management discipline to support timely delivery of new projects or with respect to significant Legal workstreams

• Champions process improvement projects

• Provides support for corporate-wide special projects, such as internal reorganizations

• Performs legal and industry research under the direction of legal colleagues

• Coordinates resource requirements in the development and implementation of various projects

• Serves as liaison for bank branch team and advises on, and files, branch applications

• Drafts regulatory correspondence

• Serves as Team’s archivist for regulatory filings, correspondence, research, and memoranda

Basic Qualifications:

• At least a Bachelor’s degree or military experience
• At least 1 year of experience as a paralegal or legal supportassociate

• At least 4 years of experience in Project Management
