The Senior Manager of Global Benefits is responsible for the oversight and management through the Center of Excellence (COE) of FMC’s Global Benefits Program. Duties include the review, analysis and design of all Health & Welfare and Retirement programs in support of FMC’s Global Benefits strategy. This individual will also manage all US Benefit programs.


This position reports to the Director of Total Rewards and will manage a regional COE staff. This individual will work directly with Treasury and Finance to ensure alignment, governance, compliance and cost management of both U.S. and non-U.S. Benefits programs.


US Benefits Strategy and Operations

    • Designs and implements Benefits improvements, initiatives and key projects to ensure programs are aligned with business objectives and compliant with governing regulations
    • Develops long term strategic goals for Benefit programs (H&W and Retirement)
    • Directly manages the day to day operations of FMC’s North America (US, Canada, Puerto Rico) Benefit programs and drives efficient and cost-effective operational practices
    • Manages vendor performance and resolves escalated operational issues to ensure that employees and internal clients are receiving a high level of customer satisfaction
    • Ensures that plans are compliant with all relevant Benefits laws and regulations, including compliance with key Healthcare Reform requirements, HIPAA, ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations.
    • Maintains plan documents and ensures all participant reporting and disclosure requirements are met
    • Working with FMC communications group, develops communications strategy and designs communications plans to improve on-boarding, employee awareness and appreciation of the benefits programs. {Communications are aimed at all levels of the organization, and include multi-channelcampaigns.}
    • Collaborates with IT and HRBPs to ensure successful execution of projects which enhance/improve effectiveness of benefit programs.
    • Collaborates and consults with key internal stakeholders including Business HR Directors and staff, Legal, Corporate Communications, Payroll, the HRSC, HRIT and Finance to ensure operational effectiveness
    • Collaborates with FMC’s external reporting function to ensure compliant and timely external reporting
    • In conjunction with business HRBPs,supports union negotiations relating to benefit plandesign and cost changes 



International: Manages International Benefits team in performing benchmarking of benefits plans, capturing financial data on programs and providing direction on plan design

  • Oversees insurance pooling program to achieve optimal financial performance
  • Coordinates annual renewal of insured benefit programs through global broker of record (GBR) team. Collaborates with regional COEs and HR leadership to gain alignment around plan design, competitiveness and costs. Approves all final renewal activity and confirms with region COEs and local leaders
  • Provides direction to regional COEs and HRBPs on country benefit practices, competitiveness and cost effectiveness to balance business needs and employee relations concerns
  • Monitors regulatory compliance and adherence to the principles of FMC’s global governance policy.

Required Education

  • Undergraduatedegree; graduate degree a plus.
  • International Benefits training/certificate preferred (CEBS, CBA)


  • At least 10 years of experience in the design, administration and communications of Health & Welfare and Retirement programs
  • Multi-faceted expertise in all areas of Benefits including, Retirement Programs, Leaves of Absence & Disability programs, Compliance and Benefits Plan Design
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of FMC's business to align Benefits strategies with business priorities
  • Experienceworking withInternational Benefits Programs
  • Proven Vendor Management experience
  • Previousexperience managing a staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively to solve problems and increase organizational efficiency.
