Overview

Provide second and third level support to WDM users, perform daily tasks to ensure smooth operation of the Unix/Linux infrastructure and execution of infrastructure projects to support WDM’s business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, operate and maintain Red Hat Linux systems
  • Install, configure, operate and maintain Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Kickstart servers
  • Install, configure, operate and maintain Puppet server
  • Monitor system availability, capacity and performance. Address all detected deficiencies
  • Automate repetitive/common system management tasks
  • Standardize system configurations, ensure systems comply with WDM’s security standards and create processes to monitor and maintain the configurations
  • Create, maintain and automate system deployment processes and procedures
  • Support backup/restore operations using Netbackup
  • Successfully troubleshoot and resolve all issues
  • Execute and manage OS and Application Patch processes
  • Ensure that all support requests, projects and other tasks are reviewed, prioritized, addressed and completed in a timely and proficient manner
  • Ensure that all systems policies, standards, procedures, checklists, agreements, diagrams, inventory, etc…. necessary to administer Unix/Linux servers and related infrastructure are properly documented and adhered to
  • Coordinate with members of the Unix/Linux team, rest of the organization and any others needed to ensure proper implementation, support and maintenance of systems

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ Red Hat experience administering hundreds of physical and/or virtual servers
  • Extensive experience with Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Kickstart for provisioning, patching, configuring and managing Red Hat servers
  • Experience with installing/configuring/using Puppet for large scale system configuration, policy enforcement, configuration management and auditing
  • Experience implementing compliance (SOX, HIPPA, HITRUST, PCI etc….) requirements for hundreds of physical and/r virtual Red Hat servers
  • Knowledge of networking and networking protocols
  • Knowledge of server utilization of SAN and NAS storage
  • Experience with Nagios, Solar Winds is desirable
  • Experience with Solaris 10, Solaris 11 is desirable but not required
  • Experience with VMWare is desirable but not required

Education

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
