SAIC has an opening for a Senior Launch Systems Engineering professional who possesses proven working knowledge of space launch systems and processes. S/he will develop briefings and assessment to a variety of audiences and must be able to convey information in a clear and articulate manner to Government leadership and support strategic planning as well as cradle to grave launch and launch support activities.

Responsibilities or duties will include:

- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with other Government agencies and mission partners
- Substantive experience providing risk assessments and risk-management recommendations to program managers in support of successful mission accomplishment;
- Delivers effective briefings/presentations/papers on complex topics for audiences that may be large and/or include high-level decision makers
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing requirements and tasks and managing longterm tasks as well as short-term obligations
- Continuously monitor contractor performance through active participation in recurring status meetings, technical interchange meetings, schedule reviews, risk meetings, etc.
- Review system specifications and facilitate government comments with the contractor
- Review system test and evaluation specifications and facilitate government comments with the contractor
- Review test plans and procedures and facilitate government comments with the contractor
- Review and evaluate contractor/subcontractor RFIs and flag technical issues/concerns for the customer
- Plan and facilitate facility strategic plan working group meetings, document and distribute minutes, and develop reports and presentations to capture results
- Coordinate system engineering and project management processes across divisions and ensure standardization where possible
- Review ECRs for technical accuracy and completeness
- Participate in contractor CCBs, as required
- Develop Statements of Objectives for contract engineering change proposals
- Perform “shoulder-to- shoulder” reviews with contractor during ECP development
- Perform technical evaluations of contractor ECPs and document in memoranda to the CC/CO
- Review Operations Concepts (conops) for new or modified systems
- Provide recommendations for project budgets and execution
- Create and provide status briefings and reports on project execution
- Extensive knowledge of client/OSL launch policy and procedures
- Thorough understanding of launch vehicle production processes and practices, launch site preparations flow and day-of-launch procedures

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Associates and 10 years of relevant experience; or no degree and 15 years of relevant experience.
- In addition:

- 7 years space launch experience
- 5 years Government acquisition experience
- 2 years of customer/client experience

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors and eight (8) years or more experience; Associates and 13 years of relevant experience; or no degree and 18 years of relevant experience.

- 5 years government acquisition experience
- 2 years of customer/client experience
