Responsibilities

  • Highly skilled developer assigned to create and maintain complex Internet applications in Java and JVM-based languages
  • Play a large role in continual improvement of Skyword’s application architecture
  • Work in a team environment, able to collaborate with otherdevelopers and members of other departments
  • Work on tasks of diverse scope and complexity requiring independent action and decision-making.
  • Mentor and guide otherdevelopers via pair programming and code reviews
  • Exercise judgment, applying creativity and ingenuity in designing and implementing solutions

Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of professional experience developing Java-based Internet applications within a team environment

Skills

  • Strong experience in designing and implementing architectures for large-scale web applications
  • Strong experience in Java technologies for Web development like AJAX, REST APIs or Spring
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL and SQL schema design
  • Experience with an ORM persistence tool such as Hibernate
  • Significant experience with Internet related technologies like HTML, CSS, HTTP, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, and general Internet protocols
  • Full life cycle development experience
  • Strong experience with source control, build tools for continuous integration and issue tracking systems like Jira
  • Experience creating unit and functional tests to validate code preferable
  • Knowledge of Big Data, Cloud, and Containerization technologies all are pluses
  • Experience with software development best practices and design patterns
  • Good organizational and documentation skills
  • Must be self-directed, confident, able to use best-practice development processes effectively
  • Able to work in a team setting using Agile practices
  • Ability to diagnose and solve problems with existing software
  • Ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly
  • Proven ability to train, mentor and lead junior team members
