Role Summary
Arcadis' Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team is looking for a senior-level Industrial Water Biological Process Engineer delivering technical projects as well as assisting in the growth of the industrial water business. On the technical side, this role will assist in determining appropriate technologies and processes for aerobic / anaerobic treatment of industrial wastewaters. On the growth side, this role will be proactive and will support business development using market information, industry knowledge, and coordination with the Arcadis' account leads. You will have the opportunity to:
- Serve as the lead/senior process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects,
- Lead the development of process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects, and
- Present technical papers at conferences.
Detailed Responsibilities / Duties:
Include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the technical leader on industrial water/wastewater treatment projects.
- Coordinate execution of projects with other disciplines.
- Process technology selection, concept, preliminary and detail designs for industrial water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Develop well written process descriptions and other related process design documentation,
- Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for industrial biological wastewater system assets.
- Lead or support the creation of cost estimates and project schedules and be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
- Manage and lead the growth of client relationships.
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers and other technical staff.
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
- Travel as needed for client meetings, project site visits, etc. project staffing needs (up to 25%).
- Self-motivated, ability to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem-solving ability with an unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments.

- Possess a thorough understanding of different types of industrial wastewater treatment systems.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver industrial water projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective collaboration and coordination within a multi-disciplinary project environment, without direct supervision.
- Initiate business development opportunities and develop proposals including scope, schedule, and budget.
- Provide mentorship to early career and mid-level engineers.
- Market perspective - nation-wide experience and willing to travel throughout North America.
- Strong client contacts - Client-friendly manner, respected by clients, adept at discerning and managing client expectations.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- Master's degree in engineering or a related field of study with focus on biological wastewater treatment.
- 10 years of industrial wastewater experience.
- Professional Engineer registration in one or more states
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- 15 years of experience.
- Experience with biological wastewater process modelling and other specialized software packages.
- Deep understanding of process mechanical design including pump sizing, hydraulics, piping and rack layout, pressure relief device sizing, etc.
