About the role

Zillow is looking for an Indirect Tax Manager who is driven to succeed with an ability to handle large workloads, prioritize effectively, communicate clearly and deliver excellent results in a dynamic, growing company. We’re looking for someone who can learn complex processes quickly and tackle new tasks including leading projects, while also running recurring functions. You will be responsible for handling the sales tax, property tax, gross receipts tax and unclaimed property filings. A major component of this role will involve teaming with other accounting and business leaders to provide technical mentorship on the indirect tax impact of certain Zillow products and services. A strong individual for this position would have a consultative mindset concerning indirect taxes. This position reports to the Senior Director of Tax.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for maintaining nexus analyses as related to state/local income and indirect taxes.
  • Team with FP&A and revenue team to provide insight into taxability concerns with revenue products.
  • You will assist in running indirect taxaudits.
  • You will assist in being a partner with outside tax advisors and consultants.
  • Complete ad-hoc indirect tax research projects and complete appropriate documentation.
  • You will review and handle journal entries related to indirect taxes.
  • You will handle indirect tax calendar for all jurisdictions.

Who you are

  • 6+ years of sales tax, property tax and gross receipts taxes experience.
  • Public accounting firm experience with a Big 4 or national accounting firm. Industry experience, a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. Master’s of Tax preferred.
  • CPA is required.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax laws, especially in the Software-as-a-Service industry.
  • Excellent process management and interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced time-management skills to handle multiple deliverables at a time in a fast-growing and dynamic environment.
